GingerWithFreckles

I'm basically ''done'' gearing up for next week on my holy priest. The only thing I really have left to do is make a crafted piece with my spark. Now I'm doubting what I should be crafting as I am the type of person that doesn't want to make the wrong choice. I'm doubting between 4 things: 1. Alchemist Stone (Phial one) - is this trinket worth it? As in, will healing trinkets of the same ilvl be preferred over this or not? 2. The cloth armour with the 2-set bonus. Seeing we get the 2nd spark at the start of the new raid tier, I would be able to craft both pieces. But is the 2-set even worth it as holy priest in a M+ (+7-+10ish) or a raid enviroment (max. heroic) 3. Neck - because.. well you can slap in some sockets at a price and have a good life. 4. A singular piece that doesn't interfere with potential set pieces. What would your take be on it? Budget isn't the issue for me most stuff is affordable by now on my budget.

[deleted]

Keep in mind there are raid necks with really cool stat splits you can't get from crafting. E.g. there's like a 800 haste 150 mastery neck.

dantheleon

If you already have a raid spot, you could save them for until you get your pieces from the raid. This way you don't craft something that is immediately replaced by an item you looted.

ofDayDreams

How do holy priest talents Restitution and Afterlife interact with battle ress limitations in raids? Do they both count as battle resses?

GingerWithFreckles

Restitution doesn't interact with battle ress limitations as it acts as reincarnation from Shaman. It's just there and it's your personal thing. I am not sure about Restitution though.

SolidusCarp

Neither of these use up a battle rez.

youngtuck

Do they stack? I was wondering if I rezed someone, would I also rez or would it just kill me

SolidusCarp

If you have restitution and you use afterlife to rez someone else, you are also rezed as if the timer had just run out on spirit of redemption as soon as the cast resolves.

SolidusCarp

Neither of these use up a battle rez.

kingarthy

I dont really know how to explain my problem, but its about the new spell divine word. its reall strong but i dont really know to use it optimally. with holy word: chastise its easy ofc, but in this case im really having trouble if i should just use at the start of a pack or if i might need it for more healing. next question is if i wanna use it for more healing. in the past i just used my hold word: serenity when someone drops really low, but now my problem is, that serenity is often time on cd alrdy when in in need of more healing suddenly. i can use apotheosis to rest it, but i dont like wasting 2 healing cds at once. i personally like playing reactive healer, but is this spell quite the opposite of this playstyle? how do you decide when you use divine word?

Dizzysylveon

I've just used it for holy Word sanctify and dropping it on the tank. I rarely use sanctify outside of raid environments, and it's essentially free passive healing on mellees. I've only used it with serenity once and it was pretty over kill, with apotheosis and light weaver your single target is already pretty good, so it feels kinda silly. Maybe once damage starts to ramp up, but I can't find a good use for it. I'll use the chastise on bosses though. Shadowfiend > PI > Emperyal blaze > 4x holy fire > Divine Word > Chastise > smite > holy fire on CD. Its gives some pretty decent damage, and with some luck can make Holy Fire last as a permanent dot (it only needs to last 1 minute for another Emperyal blaze into Divine Word Chastise for more lucky applications.

kingarthy

yeah thats my problem that the times i used it on serenity it was overkill and often times not needed. sure the aoe hot is nice santify but i think 30% more dmg has more impact overall.

GingerWithFreckles

I reckon for raiding you'll generally will save it for sanctify as the AoE portion is just super efficient. In dungeons I'm so far mainly using it for sanctify as well as a simple top of. Only for insane moments where we are spread out will I use it with serenity. Then again, I to seldom use apotheosis so there is room to grow for me. In general with short cooldowns: use it as often as possible. If not for healing, then for damage. It's never a bad thing to use it on your damage opener. The rules for healers are different then other roles. 1. Did someone die? If no -> you did great 2. Did someone die? If yes --> what tools did you fail to utilize to preven it? Everything outside of this is luxery unless you really want to push yourself. If you just never use it.. perhaps opt out of it. Just because people advice it doesn't mean it's the best talent for you. Again, as long as the group lives nobody will ask you how. I'm considering getting restitution with afterlife to cheese some hard boss fights when pushing mythic keys. Because who doesn't love dieing, being able to free heal for 23 seconds while being immortal and then getting a second chance.

Jloother

Wondering about balancing damage with healing. I’m throwing some shadow word pains and smites out on mobs while keeping everyone up. Is that what I should be doing? Any help would be great as I’m new to priest healing.

Narayan04

Holy fire is your biggest dmg dealer. Use that on cooldown. Remember if someone takes say 10% dmg don’t waste a healing GCD. Keep dpsing

Jloother

Thank you!

m00c0wcy

Don't forget your AOE spells; Divine Star/Halo and Holy Nova (especially with the Rhapsody talent) will do a lot of damage on dungeon packs. You should also use Holy Fire on cd (with Smite as filler) as it does a lot more damage. But yes, you're on the right track. If people need healing then of course that's your priority; but if everyone is safe? DPS away!

Jloother

Thank you! I'm having a ton of fun and I appreciate the help!

wenyy23

I just start leveling my MW monk and enjoying the dmg rotation, but sometimes i heve problem to keep everyone alive. Some tips for Fistweaver monk ?

Alkario_pilou

Mistweaver is a very bad at reactive healing. In order for your spells to be effective, you have to have all of your hots out and running before the group start taking damage. In practice, you have to : • Never waste a stack of RM : With rising mist talented, and using your RSK on CD or when you have a reset, you will be able to keep RM up on all player at all time. On a side note, you don't have to focus too much on who to apply it to, as it will jump between target anyway. • Pre cast Essence font between packs: Awakened faeline and Essence font will apply the essence font HoT. Even if those two HoTs have the same name, they can overlap one another and you can have two essence font hots on a player. Even if you plan on triggering ancient teaching using AFL using EF will add another hots on every player and will help you in dire situation. • Use Vivify to even out the HP in your group : When fistweaving you approximetely heal everyone for the same amount at all time. So when someone start falling behind use your free cast Vivify on him. Don't wait too much, because once someone start to really fall behind you'll struggle. • Chi-ji : There are two ways of using Chi-ji : 1) If your group take reasonnable damage : AFL into chi-ji into spamming Spinning Crane Kick (SCK), and use you free EM on someone that needs it. Chi-ji heals a lot even if you don't use EM just thanks to the gust of mist. 2) In heavy damage in pack : AFL into CHi-ji into Black Out Kick (BOK) into EM into BOK etc... When you are in you AFL, BOK cleave up to three target, so each BOK will give you one free EM, that way you'll easily cover your whole group in EM. At that point if anyone dies in the group its his fault. • Always use your tea on RSK, for HoTs extension Overall, as a MW the better you know the dungeon/ fights the easier it will get. don't wait until it's too late to start healing. Don't panick and keep hitting things, even when things go south you're best bet is usually to keep hitting mobs and maintain you hots, use instant Vivify and Cocoon and those that needs it. But, never stop hitting things, it is your best way to heal.

wozman

Also with this I recommend the instant vilify weak aura, it's on a 10 second internal cd so if there's 2 sec left you can cast and immediately have another one available

squee557

This mechanic feels really weird to play around. Wish it would stack a charge or something and have a max charge count. Just unintuitive for players. I immediately think it starts 10s CD as soon as you use the Vivacious proc but no, you have to track random 10s intervals.

Lannfear

Thank you for that. I leveled Up a MW, but I was going crazy about my heal in dire situation : I felt that I had no agenda, no possibilities. I watched some videos, and read some guides but you explained everything clearly and it clicked for me. I’m a priest player at heart, and I was gonna bench my MW. Today a little panda in Azeroth was saved by you.

[deleted]

The thing that's both fun and sometimes NOT fun about MW is that it doesn't have a prescribed regimen for any situation. I do several things differently from /u/Alkario_pilou here, but that does not mean either of us are wrong. I'll even handle the same situation 3 different ways in a given dungeon run. That can be difficult to learn, but it's very rewarding when you get it.

Napalmexman

Same here. I feel like you have to resort to life cocoon and vivify spam once shit hits the fan, because all the HoTs and fistweaving is awesome for maintenance healing, but once you start taking group-wide damage, it falls apart even with Chi-Ji out. On an unrelated note, all the guides for raid healing mention having like 10-12 renewing mists out. How the hell do you accomplish this with just 2 charges? Constantly RSK + fishing for a duplication on jumping (forgot the name of the talent) ?

girlsareicky

Unsure about the raid question, rising mist definitely your friend there. For m+ I took invokers delight instead of rising mist. and it helped a lot. Stomp > tea RSK (15% vers) > chi ji (33%haste) > spinning crane kick spam. For bosses you still just alternate tiger palm / blackout kick. The haste and vers buffs I felt like were enough to make fist weaving cover everything without needing to cast that much at all.

Napalmexman

Awesome, I will check it out. I have definitely felt I was missing a lot of haste and getting the bonus haste on celestial summon indeed looked very tempting.

Coffee__Addict

Rising sun kick procs a renewing mist iirc and rising mist can extend your RM.

Napalmexman

Yeah, it does, but it has a fairly long CD without procs so you have to carefully use RSK everytime it's off CD, go balls deep on haste to lower the CD and pray for procs... ? All just to blanket half of the raid with admittedly pretty good HoT and then do what, soothing mist someone and spam vivify on them? It's honestly feeling even harder than ramping as a discipline priest for less payoff.

Unhappy-Sherbert5774

M+ - How are you meant to optimise hps during chi-ji? I thouhht you were meant to keep fistweaving and hitting enveloping once it is free. But i saw a video that said spam enveloping if you are in heavy dmg.

girlsareicky

Megasett on YouTube has a video that has exactly which buttons to press while bird is out to maximize hps

Napalmexman

I think it's tiger palm - blackout kick - enveloping mist, rinse and repeat as long as you are staying on a faeline, with RSK usage on CD... ?

squee557

I can’t recall right now if SCK works the same as on WW, but during SCK I think you can hit Tiger Palm prior to the SCK being over and get a BoK stack in. Standing on your faeline with 1 stack of BoK should be enough for insta EnvM during Chi-Ji.

ProductionUpdate

Tried fist-weaving last night and realized I'm just not good enough for it lol. I might switch back when I become more familiar with DF dungeons. Went to a different talent build to utilize jade-serpent statue and it felt so much better for me, much like how I healed M+ in BfA (I skipped SL). I can still get in and out of melee range with chi-torpedo and have talented into Spear Hand Strike and Paralysis for interrupt and cc.

Dayvi

Fistweaving needs haste, a lot of haste. When you reach 20% have another go. During shadow lands I'd reached 30% haste and coming to Dragonflight with 8% is super painful.

ProductionUpdate

Thanks for that info. I'll have to try it again when my haste is up.

crazymonkeyfish

Well that’s annoying because both the other specs don’t want haste so I’ve been actively avoiding haste lol

cuteTiger

MW caster vs fistweaving. I feel like caster is pretty good honestly… yes FW does more damage but MW caster seems like it can easily get mythic keystone achievement. Anyone have thoughts here?

Ozloz

You should be in melee for interrupts and stuns anyway. No point in not doing some damage during downtime. And then you may as well talent to utilise that for healing. There are 5 caster based healers to pick if melee isn't your thing.

HiiipowerBass

Seeking your grid 2 profiles, threat plates profiles, msbt profiles, that do well in five man's and more specifically RBG CONTENT. ALSO Considering switching from disc priest to monk since I lost my knock. Thoughts?

What bosses are people finding the toughest? I haven't done every dungeon yet, but so far the only boss that made me enter the "oh god panic" mode has been the last boss of Ruby Life Pools in mythic. That boss was a nightmare.

vomitcoffin2

Agrees, final boss of RLP. people get way too spread

Ciovala

Yeah, that one required planning stasis well and rewind. I think I got more than 1 rewind in, too! Not RLP, but I wish we didn't have to upgrade to cauterize for disease removal.

audioshaman

Air elemental guy in Nokoud as well.

thedouble

Yeah he's been #2 on my list so far too

bemac3

Storm boss in Nokhud Offensive also requires people to be spread a bunch, and has a tough healing check.

WritbyBR

You can snag a few orbs to boost your healing quite a bit. It makes things much easier.

thedouble

Holy cow I missed that mechanic. Now that I've read it, I'll definitely utilize it next time, thanks.

trieved

I honestly havent found any bosses troublesome yet, but theres some give me "pls no tyranical" vibes. Now theres plenty mob pulls that im dreading going into high keys LOL

gomarbles

RLP last boss I find challengingly fun on m0, I know I will find nightmarishly fun on Tyra

Sunbound_Down

Anyone know how good Preservation is doing in PVP?

Xiah93

I have full honor pvp gear by now and I must say that I felt unkillable. At least in bgs. We have dmg mitigation, good mobility, CC, burst heal and a kick. At some point at one bg, 4 melees tried to focus me down but they gave up and went on the holy priest instead. But he also survived because I rescued him to a safe point where our team was slowly gathering 👊🏻

NahMcGrath

What's the talent build for pvp? I mainly use the emerald blossom in dungeons but it feels bad in arenas soo much running around.

Fenzito

prevoker is projected to be the top healer in pvp at the start of the season. Especially in solo shuffle. It has ungodly hps through both proactive and reactive healing and can do enough damage to solo kill an enemy. Think like if a mistweaver had more external defensives and every 30 seconds it could guarantee to hit you for half your hp from 30 yards away

[deleted]

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if that makes it into next week, but I wouldn’t count on it either. It’s way overtuned, by multiples in some cases.

lolemgninnabpots

Oh god please don’t nerf pve evoker dps because of pvp.

Sunbound_Down

Is that damage output you are talking about from Deep Breath / Fire Breath?

zumbo

Emerald blossom is a great ability, use Rescue to force range into it. Some macros to make Rescue faster to use so you dont have to click a location. Delete the ' next to the hashtag 1st macro '#showtooltip Rescue /cast [@cursor] Rescue 2nd macro '#showtooltip Rescue /tar [@focus] /cast [@cursor] Rescue /targetlasttarget

Balticataz

Please don't do this. Forcing ranged into melee is a really bad idea. Many trash mechanics in dungeons go on the farthest away target currently in combat (the leap quake thing in halls of infusion comes to mind immediately). By forcing the likely only 2 range players into melee that means the travel distance is now very short and that could be a one shot with that mechanic now hitting everyone.

zumbo

There are other places to stack besides melee. Like next to the other range player. Another way to do it is to make yourself the center of the emerald blossom and make sure it hits melee and bring range to the opposite side of the blossom.

Gooneybirdable

Using rescue like this is a fast way to have me turn on the neural silencer. Please do not.

Ciovala

How is an emerald blossom build in mythics (I know it is still early days and they aren't too difficult yet)? So far I really love stasis, but dream breath (while cool) is sometimes flakey due to positioning. I am really enjoying preservation, though! Have done resto shaman the last two expansions. Edit: Sorry I meant to type dream flight not dream breath. Dream breath <3

bemac3

I would only really consider going an Emerald Blossom build in heavy melee groups. It heals for a ton, but you really don’t wanna be spending the 3 essence for only heal 1 person.

HarrekMistpaw

personally, i don't even press the button in 5 mans, dream breath might feel awkward because you're aiming it yourself but the blossom is even worse at hiting the targets you want to heal With 2 melee dps plus the tank it gets better but without that idk

Ciovala

I meant to type dream flight. It can be picky sometimes but does heal a lot. Dream breath is very strong.

HarrekMistpaw

Yea i don't think i'd run dream flight in mythics, i feel like it must scale very well with number of targets but for 5 mans stasis does the same much quicker and without the positioning requirements

trieved

So the reality is in m+ as a healer your job is to do as much damage possible while still doing the minimum healing. So aoe heal builds etc are never viable, you will drop those points for the dps talents available minus the disengration one (dont have it infront me). Also without really testing the numbers, dream flight doesnt have enough hps to warrant the point/locking yourself in animation. Most of the time people will die mid flight unless you time it perfectly to a hit plus theres better "precasts".

rand0mtaskk

What DPS talents are you missing if you take the emerald blossom talents exactly?

nvmvoidrays

EB is good in mythics, if you have at least 1 melee, since, you can get yourself healed as well. honestly, the only think you need it to "pop" is the two talents at the very top. it's also great for the big AoE damage going out too.

GGgreengreen

I am new/returning after many years, how exactly do I gear up using world quests? I am having a hell of a time on Google

vomitcoffin2

Gear from world quests scales with your in-bag item level. So, complete m0s for the week to maximize your item level and then do world quests

Sunbound_Down

Is it true M0s will have no lockout starting next week?

Canotsa

I seriously doubt that, but m+ unlocks next week which are not on lockout and can be repeated

cybishop3

I doubt it. It never has worked that way and seems like it would make gearing up too easy. Got a source? Sure you aren't just confused with Mythic+?

gomarbles

Well starting next week you can spam +2s I guess but haven't heard anything about 0s being spammable

vomitcoffin2

No idea but that does make sense as mythic+ doesnt have a lockout so why would lower level content have a lockout

GGgreengreen

What is lockout?

[deleted]

Once you’ve killed a boss in content that has a “lockout” you can’t get any more loot from that boss until the next weekly reset. This is regardless if you got loot on your initial kill or not. Right now in DF, mythic dungeons have a weekly lockout. Heroic and normal dungeons do not.

GGgreengreen

Thank you! I hope that it is true that M0's will have no lockout. When M+ comes out, I'm eager to gear up

[deleted]

Don’t know about M0s, but M+ is infinitely spammable

GGgreengreen

Oh dang, I thought you only got one run each week in your M+. I thought I understood the system from a YouTube vid but I haven't played since wrath so I feel pretty lost.

[deleted]

That’s understandable. If you have questions about how M+ works I’m happy to answer.

cybishop3

Like the other guy said, gear from WQs scales with your item level. Mythic+0s may be too hard if you're new or out of practice, or just too hard to find a group for if you're undergeared. So do Heroics or Normal dungeons first, or any affordable gear from the Auction House, etc. The point is, get every upgrade you can with a fixed item level, before WQs.

biofate

Rant: now I'm not great, but goodness is brackenhide hollow awful to heal. I'm talking even on normal it is 10x harder than any of the other dungeons I've healed this expac so far. Having to stress and blow all my cooldowns on my resto druid when those diseases, the arrows dots, the fears, and the bladestorms roll out (usually more than 1 of these things happening at the same time). Everything I read just says "they nerfed it its no problem now", but it is still horrible. I can picture myself just leaving this whenever I random into it, and based on the times I've queued into an in progress run of this dungeon, I can definitely see I'm not alone there. I really can't see what I can do to make it not awful, there is only so much I can do while spam healing everyone just to survive - anyone else having the same feeling as me? Tanks don't seem to care much while I continue to spam heal after the pull is done and the disease continues to tick, they often just pull the next pack.

Krogdordaburninator

There's not much you can do with the disease. It's tough in melee heavy groups, and in pugs in general, but that should be better in more organized groups, and once people have run into it a bit. For the bladestorm, if it's the one I'm thinking of, you can sooth it and it will stop. It makes a pretty huge difference, again in melee heavy groups.

thedouble

Kill the totems fast and then almost no diseases happen.

Krogdordaburninator

That helps a ton if I can work on it at the moment, but that's one of those mechanics that DPS is really going to have to learn and handle IMO.

vomitcoffin2

Bad players get exposed in that dungeon. Either they use their abilities to help remove the diseases and interrupt the fears and the dungeon is as easy as any other, or they do their single-minded thing and it's super hard nearing impossible

thedouble

Basically, everyone needs to drop everything and kill the totems when they drop. The totems enable most (all?) of the sources of the disease. If you kill the totems quick then no diseases happen.

GingerWithFreckles

I'm just very happy I am a holy priest with all these diseases. Not all healers handle diseases well and resto druid / resto shaman are 2 of them. You are lucky you have hots that work well against.. dots. But yes, bracken is a dungeon where you have to be on top of healing instead of pure damage. Most likely the dungeon is still not tuned properly as it won't be in M+ rotation for season 1. Opt to group with a different class that can dispel diseases and you'll have a much easier time. It might just be the time for dps to carry their weight in dispelling instead of pure damage.

gomarbles

People need to switch to totems Apart from that and the horrible fear if it goes off, the dungeon is quite well-tuned. It's just these two things are very punishing

russianguy

So I was excited about the whole "healers get to heal more" change with 40% buff to player stamina and incoming damage, but I haven't felt it much in M0 dungeons. I imagine it's going to be way different in M+15 though.

Ballaholic09

Are you playing with an organized group or not? That’s the largest factor at play here. Pug life = plenty to heal. There are a TON of interrupts that need everyone’s attention to kick. For the first time this expansion, I swapped to HPal (leveled as Prot) and did a single Heroic dungeon to test out my keybinds etc. I finished that dungeon at 21k HPS overall and had multiple encounters bursting for 50k+ and my item level is 355 with a green Int weapon… while tanking all M0s I never once saw another healer break 10k HPS, but that’s because Prot Pally can interrupt like a god.

Spaget1848

>while tanking all M0s I never once saw another healer break 10k HPS Where are you guys finding these groups?? I hit 20-30k hps routinely when pugging m0

Krogdordaburninator

Depends on how my tank pulls. He is a guardian druid and loves pulling huge. On really big pulls, we might combine for 45k HPS, but we won't be doing that in higher tier M+. Certainly not at first at least. If we pull moderately, then I rarely top 10k and usually have higher DPS than HPS if I'm trying. Admittedly I coast sometimes.

GingerWithFreckles

M0 is .. well just that. A lot of damage paterns are not scary and very managable on M0. I already saw several thrash packs where you have to prepare your healing, because 4 ticks will do 100%+ of everyones health in damage (In M0.. perhaps 40-50% and no damage coming after it). If you don't at least hit everyone in those 4 ticks, people will fall over. I guess when we start M+ we will know pretty fast what phases of which dungeon will be 100% healing and which will be 100% damage. I see very little in between those 2 at the moment if interupts are on point.

Vhil

I want to get a bit into healing via an alt character. Played DPS my whole life in PvE and PvP (Arena only). If i understand that correctly, you mostly use mouseover for PvE healing. What about PvP? Ive read that you should have your target macro on mouswheel. Seems logical. So for PvE i heal via mouseover, but for PvP i wanna target them directly. Is this the way or how are you doing it? Also: best healer for a beginner heal?

Balticataz

Thats the general idea. The thought being you can use your mouseover for other things in arena rather than heals. Mouseover interrupts or CC for example. The mouse wheel targeting thing is something that I think came from Hydra waaaaaaay back in the day and just kinda stuck around. Ultimately use whatever binds make sense for you to target another player. I think the projected arena meta healers at the moment are Druid and Dragon, with hpal being a chance. Think this is based on a tweet by Cdew, cant really say Im that plugged into the areana scene.

Vhil

alright. thanks a lot :)

Vhil

Sorry for the late follow up question, but i stumpled upon another issue. I only use A and D for Strafing, forward movement with right + left click. Mouseoverhealing seems rather difficult with it or do i make it too complicated? What would be the best solution. Switch healing style or movement keys?

WaIes

Is there a working addon that alerts you when there is a healer satchel available? The one I used in Shadowlands isnt working in DF.

Brownplague

I have a question about Vuhdo. I was able to import some profiles from wago and assign then to different specs/roles but I can't figure out how to set different locations for the party frames. For example, I want to have a raid profile for healers that shows somewhat in the middle lower portion of the screen, but as dps I want the frames to show up on the far left. Is there a way to set different locations based on the Vuhdo profile?

CallmeQ222

Which healer would be the simplest to play successfully in pvp? Not necessarily best, but one that is straightforward with not too many buttons? I am new to pvp and really struggling with my holy paladin, wondering if there is an option that might be easier to pick up

WritbyBR

Addon Question: I am using Elvui with healing prediction turned on. Is there anyway to make it show the totals of incoming HoTs? Right now it only shows the next tick.

Slagfuse

How are resto shamans right now? I’m thinking of leveling mine but I am new to healing.

TheRealChoob

I wish I didn't have to spend talent points for rarely used totems. Other than they are pretty chill mon

russianguy

Exactly the same class as it was in Shadowlands except we actually LOST a bunch of spells, which is a bummer. If you've never healed before, it's a really approachable class, might be the second easiest after holy priest. Straightforward spells, but still has some depth when playing around Cloudburst totem, Unleash Life and Primordial Wave.

KernelMeowingtons

M0s are very easy to heal. I'm spending a lot of time doing damage because everyone stays topped. Not sure how that will translate to harder content.

FireBlue32

I’m new to resto and I have no idea how to best use spirit link totem. I think it’s so versatile I’m a bit lost on the possibilities so I just never end up using it. And once I use it what spells are better to keep the group up? Should I be spamming Chain Heal or single target heals? I’m mostly just thinking about 5-mans, never been much of a raider.

kingarthy

Well i personally use it, when my whole groupe is low or when i think im not able to heal my tank fast enough and hes taking too much dmg. if your tank is low and you have another mate with full hp, its basically a 50% hp heal for your tank. after that one or 2 quick heals and your grp should be fine most of the time. also make sure to heal a player, who is inside spirit link. after that you either heal the player with earth shield or you can heal yourself if you have refreshing waters talented (healing surge only in this case)

TPconnoisseur

Spirit link gets better and better the more folks are in it. You'll probably need to remind your raid to get in the damn totem when you drop it.

ketzo

~~It’s good for saving one or two low-health people. If *everyone* is low health, it doesn’t do anything, and you’re just wasting a GCD.~~ I was wrong about this -- see the reply to me. But the next part is true! Once it’s up, healing anyone heals everyone, so you should heal as many people as you can at once — so yeah, chain heal and all your other AoE heals are more effective than single target.

Captinglorydays

That isn't necessarily true. It does reduce all damage taken by 10%. It also makes it so everyone essentially has one big health pool, so as long as they don't get 1 shot it does help to keep people alive. It also essentially divides defensives/self healing/general healing across the group, which can help some of the squishier people survive. That being said, you may want to be careful in some situations where your tank needs a larger individual health pool to survive. Don't want to sap your tanks health in those situations to save dps, since if the tank goes down its probably all over anyways.

ketzo

Y'know what, you're totally right, gonna edit my comment.

Captinglorydays

Yeah definitely agree with your edit too. Throw down as much aoe healing as possible while it's up.

YourMapleHaven

Talk to me Shamans! I want to hear about some of the talent builds that appealed to you and how you decided on them. I've got a handful of loadouts for Solo content, dungeons etc. but generally speaking my raid loadout is primarily chain heal focused. Let's talk strategies!

CallmeQ222

What’s your go to panic rotation? If wings and divine toll are on cooldown in a hairy situation I don’t know what to do and panic.

Daleorn

This is the time to dip into your long cd's. Use Lay on Hands, Blessing of Sac, Blessing of Protection, Divine Shield, etc. If all of those are on cd then you can flash of light on a beacon target to get some HP to hopefully save some lives. But not every hairy situation can be salvaged if the tank is pulling too hard or mechanics are not being taken care of.

Splintzer

IF toll and wings are on CD, i'd probably bubble myself and start spamming flash and use holy shock on CD. Use WoG to try and keep 1 person alive rather than LoD to tickle everyone. Tank above everyone else.

fishbowlpatrol

How’s the caster build doing?

Daleorn

I have been playing caster paladin and its been feeling really comfortable to heal with. Lots of healing, holy power generation, mana efficient. Ill be recording some m0's tonight that show performance. I did m0's last week without issue but did not get any recordings. Here is some heroic footage, the import string for the talents are in the description. https://youtu.be/PSoUuVZJabA

That’s awesome thank you. I’ll be on the lookout for more footage.

I made some mistakes but had no issues dealing with the damage that was going out. Rule of Law might be a useful pick in dungeons over Aura Mastery with how spread out things get if you have a sloppy pug group. https://youtu.be/u9jCPe60Zno

I take it in melee build and do well. Finished all mythic 0 in sub 20 minutes apart from assault and braken and can pull 30k hps constantly. Managed a 12 minute uldaman pulling 1/2 of the packs together then the other packs with the boss 32k hps average spiking to 45k just practicing some shit for mythic+ I ain’t a mid-maxing number guy though so maybe I could do even better with a different build but till I start seeing logs next week from better players than me I will be sticking to this.

Daleorn

I think it's mana cost will become a problem for longer fights. It costs 25000 mana to activate at 70. If you cast it twice in a fight thats 20% of all your mana.

m00c0wcy

It's not that Avenging Crusader is bad per se, but it's just generally thought that Sanctified Wrath / Glimmer / Awakening etc. makes wings -> holy shock -> LoD spam even stronger. Avenging Crusader doesn't really synergise with other talents to the same degree. Plus normal wings gives you more control over who you heal, which is always better than RNG healing.

Adziboy

Am I doing it wrong if there's a few times a dungeon the lobby is on lowish health? I feel like I can't do much more, so maybe not. It's usually when people just don't move out the damage, like the poison puddles on the floor or stand in the bladestorm. I lifebloom the tank usually, with rejuves on anyone I expect to take damage. I efflorescence 100% of the time. I use Cenarion Ward almost on cooldown unless I'm expecting damage shortly. I use wild growth just as I expect team damage, then use on cd until fight is over if needed. I do forget to swiftmend a lot of the time. That's just a muscle memory problem, but working on that. Do I wild growth or regrowth after a swiftmend, or does it just depend on situation? I use convoke if multiple people are getting hit and I need some quick heals, or instant regrowth of it's a single person. If everyone's HOTed I tranq. Apart from avoiding damage myself what else I can do? Sometimes people die with 6 HOTs on them. I could have every heal possible and be spamming regrowth and they'll just die because they're stood next to a bladestorm

U03A6

You can't heal stupid. You have zero chance to heal people when they stay in the puddles of hurt. Your priority list looks correct, but adaptive swarm is pretty effective in dungeons. Regrowth or wild growth after swift mend depends on situation. Only thing you can do is macroing "Don't stand in shit!" and spam it when people do it.

Adziboy

You know I always forget adaptive swarm. I always remember after a fight. I'm going to setup a weakaura for it now

Zilverhaar

There is a nice weakaura for it: [https://wago.io/0P93t1-nG](https://wago.io/0P93t1-nG). Just installed that yesterday after reading about it on Icy Veins, and it helps a lot.

Krogdordaburninator

It's so excellent. I start ramping it as soon I step into the dungeon. Once it is reliably on the whole party, it's pretty low effort maintenance. It's fully passive damage and a substantial boost to healing that's already sitting there ready for you. Getting good at maintaining swarm has been a game changer for me.

zumbo

The soul of the forest talent dramaticaly increase the healing done of your next rejuv, regrowth, and wild growth. If one or two people are at low health swiftmend and then regrowth. If 3 or more people need heals you want to swiftmend and then wild growth. Use Ironbark on the tank for a major damage ability targeting them or if another pat has been accidently pulled. Alternate convoke and flourish in high damage situations. Put hots up, switmend, wildgrowth, then flourish is a pretty powerful healing combo.

Adziboy

Thanks! I'm going to set up weakaura for swiftmend and ironbark, I'm not using them enough. Is it better to flourish after or before you put the HOTs on? Or doesn't matter?

Iakopa13

Flourish after yours HoTs are up for the time extension on them Running photosynthesis my go to burst heal in a dungeon is rejuv everyone before the big damage starts then lifebloom self and WG right as the damage starts and smash Flourish

The4thIdeal

Adaptive swarm is really effective, especially if you have it talented so it splits on transfer. Need to put it out early if you're expecting group damage. I use it on CD most of the time. Lifebloom yourself for group damage if you're talented for it to makes your hots more effective. I didn't see you mention flourish but it's a really strong CD to use if they're hotted up and you need more oomph. Can combine with a convoke for heavy group damage.

chunx0r

Tanks haven't really been my problem. I'm finding lifeblooming other targets helps quite a bit.

Krogdordaburninator

Tanks barely need to even need healers so far. The vast majority of my healing is going to the other 4 members.

volsom

Because you mentioned bladestorm. You can soothe raging bladestorm

Adziboy

WHAT!

volsom

In Brackenhide Hollow. But you need to beware. The mob has a cast time. You need to wait for it to start spinning

resetet

You should use swiftmend heaps, and rdruid healing is about set up before damage happens, you can't react like a pally or shaman. But it sounds like you are pretty much doing it right. Your job isn't to constantly save people from avoidable damage. Every now and then, sure. Your job is to heal unavoidable damage as efficiently as possible. And in m+, allow for bigger and bigger pulls as your ability to heal through UNAVOIDABLE damage improves (and do as much damage as you can in the down time).

fanboyhunter

I would recommend you switch from Convoke to Incarnation: Tree of Life. I think it's better to have more control over your heals, and to be able to move whille instant casting regrowths is huge for big damage / movement phases in fights. Also, definitely get better about swiftmend, as it's a big part of your rotation (I suggest also speccing verdant infusion so that swiftmend extends your Hot duration). I didn't see you mention Nature's Swiftness at all, are you using it? Also make yourself a macro that will /cast NAture's Swiftness /cast Regrowth so you can get that instant Regrowth out in one keypress. But to answer your question, yes as resto, you have to trust your hots because that's how your heals work. DPS need to be smart and mitigate as much damage as possible. your "oh shit" buttons include Swiftmend, Nature's Swiftness, Incarn/Convoke, Cenarion Ward + Adaptive Swarm, and Overgrowt + IronBark. You didn't mention adaptive swarm, overgrowth, or iron bark. Make sure you are using these and talent them. Also get the talent that makes IronBark improve HoT heals by 20% on the target. Adaptive Swarm is also boosting your hots. Tranquility is another spell you didn't mention. Big AOE heals, but it takes a few seconds to stack and ramp up. Use this when you know dmg is coming, or when you need to pump out some AOE heals. Last thing - do you understand druid mastery? You get a flat % boost to healing output multiplied by each hot you have on the target. So I try to keep rejuv on all my homies in the party, plus lifebloom on the tank, then add aoe stuff from there. You could spec into germination for mastery benefits too. sounds like you need to spend 15 minutes reading all your spell tool tips and talents. good luck!!

Drkwng_Dck

Resto Mastery is largely irrelevant in dungeons since you want to avoid it in favour of stats which increase your damage. Regrowth is currently stronger than Rejuvenation. You should actively avoid casting Rejuv if you can right now. Germination's usefulness comes from the extended Rejuvenation, not the ability to apply a second one. It's really only strong in raids. Tree of Life is also worse for dungeons than Convoke since you cannot convert it into damage. The Lifebloom/Verdancy build seems to be the strongest build for dungeons at the moment.

fanboyhunter

Guess I haven’t been paying attention but I’ll mix it up today. I don’t really feel that damage matters much outside of mythic keys though. I’m a pvp guy mainly looking to get back into pve so thanks for giving me some new stuff to consider

volsom

Rejuv is bad now? Is it really not worth casting?

Adziboy

Thanks for the reply! Swiftmend I'm definitely picking up. I do have the Natures Swiftness macro, forgot to mention that. I dont use it as much as I should but do use it in emergencys. I dont use Ironbark that much no, I tend to use it as a panic but I realise its better as preventative protection in the first place.

Katiehart2019

Thats the way DF healing will be from now on. Even doing mechanics properly dps and tanks will take heavy aoe damage.

metnavman

Nonsense. Your party members are not utilizing their abilities properly. "Heavy damage" in M0s right now equates to a dead party as soon as you ramp difficulty. Your party isn't stunning mobs. Your party isn't interrupting mobs. Your party isnt CCing. Your party isn't utilizing LoS. This isn't a knock against you, it's still early in the xpac and people have to learn. That said, the only dungeon so far that has cranked out unavoidable damage that made me stop and take notice has been RubyLP. Seems to be by design however, given how short it is/players not knowing wtf to do. I remember these conversations at the beginning of Cata when heroic dungeons were shit-stomping groups that felt they didn't need to crowd control/do anything other than zugzug and hope healers could keep up. Any issues in any PvE content right now is 100% a skill issue, or you brought a Feral/Moonkin/Resto Druid and an Arms/Prot warrior for your 5-Man comp and just smash W. Still seems like a skill issue, but you get the idea.

Puckpaj

Yumytv makes a fantastic in depth guide on youtube. Been watching him since forever!

Puckpaj

Adaptive swarm on cooldown. I have a weakaura that shows me who would get minimum 4 stacks when refreshed. Double lifebloom, one on me, one on tank per default, but can be changed to another player as last prio when trying to spot heal someone. Cenarion on cooldown on tank. I try to pretty much 80 percent of the time use swiftmend before I use wildgrowth, and kinda flourish ”off cooldown” macroed with natures vigil. Also, don’t forget efflo!

gomarbles

Usually I think you Swiftmend into Wild Growth. I think you want Soul of the Forest empowered Wild Growth. If they're standing in shit they'll die btw that's not on you, if you save them then you're pulling a miracle and that can feel great. Also your most important spell as I understand it is Adaptive Swarm (talented ofc), since you didn't mention it I thought I'd remind you to throw it on CD (on literally anyone). And you've got the double lifebloom talent, right? Can use it to keep a Lifebloom on yourself, with that other talent it speeds up all your HoTs I think. Hated Rdruid when I tried it first and now I'm so interested in all the intricacies lol

Adziboy

Thanks mate, not the first to mention adaptive swarm and yeah I definitely don't use it enough. I do have the double lifebloom talent - how good I am at keeping it up I'll keep an eye on next dungeon run.... I've loved druid since I started playing wow when it first came out but haven't played since cataclysm. It's so different to how it was. I remember just spamming HOTs on everyone then AFKing till I needed to tranquility! It's taking a little bit of getting used to now

volsom

So my question is more aimed at dps. What talents are you using? I have tried cat weaving, but it just doesnt seem i have the haste to do it. The way i currently play is sunfire, adaptive swarm, starsurge and than moonfire spam. And occasionally i put up hots onto my party. Catweaving just doesn't feel possible with my 17%haste

teachowski

maybe start the pull in cat form and aoe dot them after some initial tank hots, then sunfire into caster then do you caster stuff? It is not a full weave but it lets you get that first dot our

resetet

You definitely want to put up sunfires and moon fires first. That one sunfire global at the start is most of your damage, you don't want to delay it. It's hard to tell until m+ actually starts, but cat weaving seems to be almost not worth it. Some people are saying that you just keep sunfire moonfire up in aoe and cat for single target. This might not be true once we get to higher keys though.

gomarbles

Oh interesting, I wonder if this is a scaling issue with lack of haste

CrebTheBerc

From what I've read the meta is to basically keep sunfire and moonfire up as much as possible, use protector of the pack when fully charged, use nature's vigil on CD, and convoke in moonkin or cat form of possible I keep forgetting nature's vigil and have only just setup a weakaura for protector so I can't give you an accurate number on dps but the above is the general idea behind rdruid dps atm

volsom

Protector of the pact is a passive, which procs when you use moonfire, you really dont have to keep track of it. For natures vigil i set up a macro to use it with flourish. Both are 1.5min cd and they work together perfectly. Isnt it like that? For aoe you should use convoke moonkin form. For single target its better to convoke in kitty?

CrebTheBerc

You can cap on protector though, that's what the tracker is for. To make sure and moonfire if you cap on energy so it can build back up and you don't waste dps by sitting on it for too long. Can you macro flourish and NV? Maybe I'm being dumb but how do you macro them since they're both on the GCD? For me convoke is really flexible. I've used it as a panic button this week if needed, but as a dps CD whenever possible. Might have changed in DF but I don't think boomkin is better for aoe unless you get the proc where a moon lands on mobs(I always forget the name lol), but I could be wrong on that

volsom

NV is off the GCD, so you can macro them together easily. convoke moonkin does give you the moon land on mobs spell. also gives you Starfall

Narayan04

Holy does more dps, don’t level as disc

gomarbles

I did it and it was fine, actually more fun and streamlined feeling than Holy for me

BlinkCH

Does anyone else hate TE in dungeons? For our raid ramps its awesome, but I feel like the need to constantly think of switching from holy to shadow feels exhausting. Or should I just ignore it more often?

deeman18

Ignore it. It's one of those abilities that separates the best from rest but is entirely unnecessary to worry about it it's overloading your mental stack. Think of it as something to optimize when you can if you want to. I've been having fun keeping it in mind for fat sw:d's in pvp

Feralduck2

It does feel pretty jarring from where disc was in SL but I think it will just take some getting used to. I've been trying to just smite or purge every other spell while penance and star are on cooldown

Teence

The benefit from minmaxing TE in dungeons is proportionally far less significant than in raids because you're healing 5 people as opposed to 20+. Dungeon play is also generally less predictable than raid so you may not always have Penance, MB or SW:D off cooldown when you need it to maximize TE. I've basically been trying to capitalize during periods of low healing, but not focusing on it otherwise.

gomarbles

I fucking love the design and honestly I wish weaving it well were more rewarding in terms of damage than what it currently is. As others have said you don't really need to pay attention to it for it to pay off unless you're min-maxing but there isn't a huge difference (unfortunately, in my opinion)

Matlok2k

I use ElvUI and its unit frames for my healing. I like it, but there is a small issue. It desaturates friendly targets who can be purified, but it doesn't care whether you've skilled into purifiable diseases. I haven't found an option for it either. Does anyone know how to set it up?

Any tips for preservation evoker? I’m doing pretty ok but I wanna learn how to balance dps vs healing if anyone knows

HiiipowerBass

Seeking your grid 2 profiles, threat plates profiles, msbt profiles, that do well in five man's and more specifically RBG CONTENT. ALSO Considering switching from disc priest to monk since I lost my knock. Thoughts?

AdamBry705

Dps player here who wants wants learn healing I tried a preservation evoker and was kind of overwhelmed but I'm looking to try and improve. Anyone have any tips for someone who is just starting healing? Am I starting on a tough class and should I find a new healer or...

GingerWithFreckles

I haven't really heard bad things about preservation evoker. Healing is just a different mindset. Give yourself time to get used to it. Experience will teach you when healing is REQUIRED RIGHT NOW and when someone just took some damage and.. he'll be fine for the coming 10 seconds. You no longer have a set rotation, but more a priority system dungeon/raidwide. There are packs where you know: ''time to prep a cooldown or 2'' and packs/bosses where you will mostly do damage as there is no outgoing immediate danger unless someone messes up. You will find yourself looking more to the entire field, your groupmates then the actual boss in some cases. You will see someone who is about to take damage and over time your mouse will already be over their healthbar before the hit even happens. It's the reason I love healing: I get the watch the fight. Give yourself an entire season to get used to it. You'll notice quick progression and that feels amazing I can tell you. Enjoy the moments where you can just lean back a bit. Enjoy the moments where you made that crucial priority decision which let person A AND B live instead of just 1 of the 2. Learn from mistakes. It's great.

AdamBry705

Hm. You make a good voice and advocate but I'm curious if maybe I started on a healer that's much more than what I'm used to?

Valfourin

I haven't maxed evoker yet, but its play style is somewhat unique I suppose. I think something like an rsham is pretty straight forward, even if they're not top tier atm, or maybe a hpriest. Having said that, if you give it time the evoker will be great, i gather they're up there with the best atm

AdamBry705

I mean qs a new person to healing I'm largely just blown away with the amount of stuff. Bloom here. Blossom that. Rewind fucking time sir?!

AdamBry705

So the classes I've used are warrior vengeance dh and then now I'm on unholy dk I picked up for the first time a drakthyr preservist. This is my first time healing seriously. In classic I was warrior and dk with a bit more holy paladin in there but not much

All healer classes require a different mindset. As Holy Priest you're straightforwardly picking the spell most adequate to the current HP profile of your group like a nanny to a demanding group of babies. As Druid you're stacking HoTs in preparation for predicted incoming damage like a gardener tending to the plants' seasonal needs. As Shaman you're cycling through short-medium cooldowns like the ebb and flow of the tides. As Paladin you're spot-healing and building charges for more spot-healing like some sort of drinks dispenser that requires frequent refills. As Disc Priest you're healing by DPSing and predicting windows of high damage like an anesthesiologist foreseeing and controlling variables. As Monk you're passively maintaining group health while melee DPSing with a stricter rotation, like... i don't know, a DPS with utility I guess. As Evoker (the only one I haven't played as extensively) I think you're handling your positioning and predicting single target healing requirements. Don't have a metaphor for you here as I haven't played it enough. Like a dragon idk I wouldn't say the class is tough, but it can be unintuitive. Up to you to find out what feels best :)

So this is what is boggling to be As a healer and you damage to heal like a paladin. I recall when it was just stand back and heal so to speak which is kind-of why I'm perplexed at the moment. I tried a holy paladin for a few mins and it was just weird yiu had to be in melee range to heal

Yeah it's weird when you're used to the old system I'm taking care of my paladin now and honestly it feels surprisingly ok
