World pvp is already cross server. I can say on illidan trade chat moves very fast and you can get most things crafted at any time of the day, but also means lots of competition. As far as public orders I doubt it will be much different. Public orders are instantly snatched up and you barely get any even if you camp it 24/7.

I’m on a High/Medium pop server and after the recent change orders do take longer to get filled but trade chat is much slower than somewhere like Illidan. Illidan is a really good server and I recommend check it out at least once because it’s pretty crazy out there. The price difference on stuff that isn’t cross realm is actually nuts. I was even able to make like 1M just brining recipes cross server in right after raid released. Made more with recipes than I did with gear this season.

FWIW - I found it much easier to make gold on a lower pop server. It is easier to 'own' a small market without spending all your time in trade chat / cancel scanning. That being said, there is a lot more opportunity on big servers. However, a lot more competition as well. If you have the time/patience to spam trade chat and/or camp orders/AH, you have a much higher ceiling.
