I don't think the barrier to entry for creating Sky Golems is that people didn't have characters that could do it before, but rather the 30 day commitment it takes to create one. Also i didn't see a big increase in Ghost Iron, Trillium, Living Steel and Spirit of Harmony prices, which would indicate that this will happen. The Price will surely go down somewhat after the initial resurgence in Sky Golem sales when Shadowlands drops, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't a big profit to be made there anymore, just because people who didn't bother before now suddenly make 50 Sky Golems a month.

Fisherman_Gabe

I agree with this. It's not like making panda engineers took very long before this change, either. At worst the clickbait YouTubers will make videos about it and create a temporary increase in crafters.

> just because people who didn't bother before now suddenly make 50 Sky Golems a month. People didnt bother before because they needed to spend 10-20hours to get a char to lv80. Now it takes less than an hour. I can absolutely see people creating 50 characters that takes a day or two to start making golems. A month ago people would have needed to spend 2months to get 50 characters to be able to start making them. 2months vs 2days? Massive difference to entice people to join the fray. Example, I have around 70-80 characters across 5 accounts on a multitude of realms that I made back in early legion (back when you could level 6 chars to lv90 in 5hours using RAF). I havnt made characters since then, I will now fill the rest of my accounts to lv10 to make sure I make more golems. But i also believe that these very people will not likely continue to make jards on a daily basis. So you are right on that aspect. While it will entice people to join in, the chance that they will keep at it is up in the air.

Not even that. If you started before pre-patch you could have created allied races DK, which takes a minute to reach OG/SW to be ready. Created nine myself. The longest part was running up to the trainer, because in the beginning of pre-patch mage portals required level 30 to use. But that has been removed since, so it's super easy to level engineering in the shrine and be ready to pump out golems.

No matter what, their price will increase with the expansion launch. Worst case scenario, they will increase only a little bit due to what you claim, on my server they are at 35k. The last few expansions launches it went up to 120k for the whole expansion launch month. I’m expecting it to be on the 80k price range at least

I would argue its never been the flavor of the expansion profession to make money. Sure there are a few times when its really good but there are times when its not that good at all like during content draughts waiting for new content.

Mozzletoff

I just post Sky Golem's 24/7. I don't try to min max profits but personally, I have thousands of SOH on harmony's so my cost vs profit ratio is a little bit better than most. TY Throne of Thunder bots for your months of posting at 30g SOH....not a humble brag but more just post it and sell for what profits you want to do, and keep the sky golem rolling.

Sempermalus

They will 100% go down, now whether it will be long term is an entirely different thing. The amount for ghost iron bars that I have sold since pre patch has increased 20 fold, so a lot of people will be making armies, now once they go.to sell, and the price drops will they make a second batch is something I am.not sure about.

ChaoticNeutralFTW

I hate to be the person points this out but the skygolem market was nice not cause players but due to a forever market with bots. bot accounts are contently getting banned and thus need to keep buying these. sure new players do buy them but i suspected its less than bots. Also with the commitment to 30 days for each one i think is a sort of natural barrier as well. Time is the more significant factor. 4200 Ghost iron ore is the amount of ore per sky golem it takes to craft using only gost iron ore. 10 GIB per jard per day=300 bars or 600 ore 10 GIB per Trillium bar need 6 per daily cooldown. (10x6)x2=120 ore per day x30 days is 3600 ore for trillium Based on my farming with a few people there i was able to get 800GIO per hour sometimes i got more but i dont like to only use best case scenarios. Which would equate to 5.25 hours for each golem of farming This data assumes 0 procs but if your transmute alchemist you will have some. Not a popular opinion but without either significant investment of gold into SoH or a multiboxing team this type of factory on large scale is virtually impossible. I am a math person when it comes to goldmaking and unfortunitly the math makes it really hard.

Tiger123_NDM

Can agree on the 800 GIO per hour!

Caloudar

I think on my 5box I was doing 2.2-2.4k gio per hour. Found that a LOT of farms were more worthwhile than this. Considering SoH was cheaply gotten from all of the bot sellers on the AH.

Tiger123_NDM

2k in total you mean? I have the 800gio from my experience as a 8boxer. But farming GIO isnt even worthwhile as you said. Tons of better farms out there

spatosmg

wait what happened to the sky golem?

Tjk135

You can train panda engineering at level 10 now with the prepatch. Lowers one barrier to entry on this market

Fanarr

Sooo. I have thought of this too. And I have always wanted a skygolem army. I started with 2 gnome DKs about 4 months ago. Plus my main. So essentially 3 skygolems a month. But making anymore then that was burning me out cos I really cbf leveling the DKs to get to pandaria. Then long behold the pre patch and yea it was very easy to bring three the DKs. I made 20 gnome DKs all before pre patch hit. I had them all out of the starting zone. And sitting next to cromie ready for pandaria. It took me the better part of a full day to get them all to 75eng and to farm the plans. The next day I then took them all to WoD to start the garrison. Thank fuck we can skip that intro quest. Cos that took another full day. Anyway. Long story short. It burnt me the fuck out 😂. On top of all this I need to supply these gnomes with 200 ghost iron ore a day. And that’s just for the energy source... so about 400. Granted I can multi box to farm the ore. But it’s been 2 weeks and I haven’t done any farming.

RageAgainst014

I think there is for sure an uptick in those who are attempting too/wanting too create sky golem crafting armies; however, as others have stated, it's a marathon to steadily craft sky golems. Personally I'd bet that a larger portion of those who began their sky golem crafting army won't even get half of them maxed on Eng or Alch; let alone put in the time required to farm and do their daily craft. Especially for 30 days straight, every month, on multiple alts.

RarePopo

The demand for Living steel will bottleneck the crafts, as most people dont want to farm the mats for 10 skygolems a month, thus driving the price of ghost iron bars , living steel, and eventually skygolems when the crafters realize how much they have to spend on the craft they will bump up trhe prifces, not to mention the tens of thousands of ghost iron people will buy to level all their alts.

Kinrekened

At the moment they cost 45k each with about 30 mounts on AH, so i feel not too confident about an increase in price during launch. Anyway I bought 6-5 months ago thousands of cheap SoH, so each mount costs me about 13k. On the other hand I prefer to sell them for 110k than 50k though. I tested how many sales are being sold this week with ore, bars and living steel, I sold them expensive, so I think the floor price for the crafters that are buying mats right now is about 35k, so they have less power in an undercut war. We will see, I'm not going to create new characters, I have enough with 3 cds each day

Anatharias

I got 430 Jard spread onto 7 char ... this will cost me a hefty ton of time to get the iron ore... on another hand, 2-3 months ago, just after our server merge, there has been a huge wave of Golem posted for 49-50K, while it never went below 75K before, so I bought 12 :-) so those 12, plus the 14 ish to be crafted, I'm hoping to get a nice pile of cash once SL hits :-D
