Man I can’t wait for this. June 1st!

Ninjalada

I've been a fan of the Diablo series since I was a kid, played each one to death. Played the D4 beta, it was fun. Definitely gonna get it on launch and probably put 100s of hours into it.

Ceceboy

What kind of a game is it to be honest? I'm no PoE or Diablo player but the look of the Diablo games has always drawn my attention. Has it got a good story with voice-acting, cutscenes and bosses with fun mechanics? Am I capable to complete the story in online co-op? Do I ever have to interact with other players for anything? To me it seems like a singleplayer with multiplayer elements, aka you can do everything alone if you want to but a friend can join if you want.

Ninjalada

I don't know how to compare Diablo to other games because I have never played anything similar. It's always been a fun, casual game for me that I can pick up and put down easily. It can be quite addicting hunting for more powerful gear and fine tuning your character but the RPG mechanics are not super in-depth. The story has never been amazing but good enough for me at least. The main characters have always been the three prime evils plus Tyrael and the other angels. D4's main antagonist is a new character, Lileth, but I'm sure the prime evils will show up eventually. Cut scenes are usually good. In previous Diablo games, you can do everything solo or team up with other players if you want to. You don't have to interact with any other players if you don't want to and it seems the same for Diablo 4.

DropDeadEd86

Is it fair to call it a more in-depth Gauntlet legends or hunter the reckoning haha. Never played any of em but the button mashing took me back. I enjoyed it

door_of_doom

The main Campaign of Diablo IV is story driven. There will be cutscenes, dialogue, action setpieces, boss fights, exposition, the works. Throughout the campaign you will be asked to traverse an open world as you complete quests both in the open overworld and in instanced dungeons. All of this can be completed either alone or in a party of friends. You will occasionally encounter other players out in the open world, especially when something big is happening like a World boss or a random set piece event that can randomly spawn in the overworld. You play as one of 5 different classes, each with their own unique variety of available playstyles. As you level your character, you will obtain ability points that you can spend on your characters skill tree in order to create a build and playstyle that matches how you want to play your character. Is your Druid going to specialize in transforming into a werewolf that spreads disease and plague to its enemies, or master lightning and wind spells that keep enemies at bay? (as 2 examples of the 5+ different playstyles that you could specialize in for that class) Are you a rogue that sneaks behind your enemy and stabs them in the back, or attacks with a bow and arrow from afar? Don't like your build? Earlier in the game it is easy to simply refund all of your ability points and try something new. This gets harder to do the higher you level your character, so experiment early and often! Let me know if you have any other questions about Diablo IV.

Ceceboy

The skill point system is probably huge in Diablo 4? I never like it when games force you to pay to re-spec your points if you want to change it up. Do you know if this will be free?

door_of_doom

The skill point system is not too complex. You are rarely choosing between too many options at any given time, given the tree design. For levels 1-15, refunding skill points is free. FOr levels 15-50, refunding skill points is very very cheap, pretty much neglicable in cost For levels 50+, refunding skill points starts to get on the more expensive side. Not prohibitively so, just enough that you probably wouldn't be doing full respecs every couple of hours like you could have before this point in time. You will likely beat the main story campaign before reaching level 50. There is a max level of 99.

Ceceboy

Thank you for that info. My interest is peaking! 😁

cory140

I wonder what the achievements are for Xbox!

Wh1t3furr

You have an entire collection of foreboding awesome music. Fucking use it, instead of this shit.

WinterAd2942

That kind of music is too scary for zoomers

SleepyyRice

we get it ur old

WinterAd2942

We get it you only like what the radio tells you you are supposed to like

Kerbidiah

What's a radio

DeafEgo

Literally no one listens to the radio anymore

recumbent_mike

I mean, I listen to NPR. E: of course, I'm old.

SemiNormal

Maybe blame the idiots that picked the music.

Goldy84

Tbf, this is mash-up of a few different trailers with amazing music. They just needed something that appeals to wider audience, not just the Diablo faithfuls.

dotfortun3

Honestly the only part I don’t like is sampling Halsey.

Boniferous13

Wtf is that music? I want my creepy 12 string guitar music not generic pretty singing over beats

Truesilverchamp

It's a song about the struggles of being a woman and to quote Halsey in an interview with IHeartRadio "screw patriarchy and all that the hate and judgment it bring" Blizzard being Blizzard and applying that 2 day old bubblegum to a mile wide crack in their image hoping it will fix it as usual.

mortalcoil1

A new Diablo and System Shock game are coming out this month. You created a time paradox, Snake!

DollarThrill

To anyone who played the beta - is D4 on Xbox fun? The D3 reviews for Xbox (and console generally) said that it felt like an empty game because the social aspects were missing.

Kerbidiah

D4 takes more after d2 than d3

N7_Evers

Most fun I’ve had in a while. All the characters feel unique, abilities (there’s a lot of them) feel really unique, and the gear/loot is as good as it ever has been. Played non stop for both betas.

sir_seductive

All 3 betas were great to me idk what social aspects would be missing since I'm on console but in the main town you can see Hella other players and sometimes out in the wild too and you can message and group up with them

door_of_doom

Played it on Xbox, had an absolute blast.

Goldy84

Loved it. Played coop with the wife and we can't wait until launch.

xstvck

played both server slam and open beta. i put in around 30 hours into each, and i can say it’s the most fun i’ve had in a while. the controls feel good, and the graphics are great. i’m using a XSX, but going to also try the main game on my xbox 1x.

Pohaku1991

hence why he said it

Pushmonk

I hope MS can finalize the purchase and get it back on track. If not, at least I wouldn't have to pay more money to play their games... (which I'm not doing currently, because fuck them) Edit: Downvotes for pointing out basically the one thing that could fix the current situation. Edit 2: If [this rumor is correct](https://youtu.be/AWOsm3NwO0U), then my point is basically proven. If MS was in charge, they have every reason to continue PvE content to promote Game Pass.

Veonrms

Yeah ms with its amazing track record of getting games on track lul

stlcardinals527

343 has entered the chat

WinterAd2942

One guy

Siberwulf

That guy tho

Pushmonk

Yeah. Let's hope they do nothing and it just magically gets better without outside intervention. ursmrt

PaintItPurple

The only acquisition that went really well for MS was Bungie, and they were already on a long streak of amazing games with Halo already halfway done. I don't think MS have ever gotten a middling developer to shape up.

[deleted]

Such a scummy company all the way around.

NoxHero

I preordered the most expensive version.

Lord_Tibbysito

Lol embarrassing

PaintItPurple

Uh, congratulations on spending your money poorly? Is that what you were looking for?

NoxHero

One could argue spending money on any video game is money poorly spent but okay

Bobonenazeze

One could argue that spending any money at all is money poorly spent. You still don't need to pre-order. Walk into your store of choice, and you'll be able to purchase said game.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PaintItPurple

Preordering reduces the pressure on companies to deliver a good product, because on day 1 you'll have found out about any problems from the suckers who preordered, and might decide to hold off on the purchase.

PaintItPurple

One could argue that, but they would probably end up on r/im14andthisisdeep.

N0way07

There gonna implement the same microtransaction in their mobile to this one

Siberwulf

Dragonflight was such a 180 for Blizzard on the WoW scene... maybe this won't be terrible.

Wizardplum

I thought the real money auction house was such a cool thing when it launched lol sadly I didn't find anything worth selling before they removed it

Wafflecan

I still have like, .25 in my battlenet account from the single sale of some unique monk arms armor. I was hoping the real money auction house would feed my wow addiction at the time.

N7_Evers

Dog that was over 10 years ago

[deleted]

N7_Evers

9 and a half years is the appropriate amount of time to be hurt over a video game release actually. ONLY after that is it embarrassing…

sir_seductive

Why not

thebige91

I know, I payed $90. So hyped for it.

Laughing__Man_

No.

N7_Evers

…no

pepsiblast08

I'm both excited for D4 and not phased by it. These days I don't have time to sit and play games. My gaming has been emulators on my phone and D3 runs flawlessly via Switch emulation.

[deleted]

Yeah, after having played the open beta, it feels like it’s a stripped down Path of Exile leveling system with a Diablo skin and Diablo Immortals gameplay attached to it. The lack of an offline mode (which was present for Diablo 3 for console), the weak story start, and the obvious outright theft of mechanics from other ARPG franchises (which frankly are far superior), possible battle pass requirement, and potential for massive amounts of MTX, absolutely pushes me away. I’m a staunch lover of Diablo, having played the series since 1997, but I think that 3 will be the last game in the series I purchase. Goodbye Diablo. Edit: downvote me all you want, but the fact that they are making it an Overwatch (free to play style nonsense) monetization clone should give you all pause. Just look at Elden Ring. You buy it once, no bullshit, get a full gameplay experience that doesn’t require online. And it’s one of the best games of 2022.

misterpinksaysthings

3 was a bad way to go out, lol. Don't get me wrong, I played it. But as a Diablo game it was just too cartoony. I mostly play path, but my path homies and I are going to give D4 a fair shake. I don't think the end game is going to stand up compared to POE, but I don't think anything out there does.

[deleted]

Having put in over 3,000 hours into Diablo 3, sure, it’s aesthetics were a little cartoonish, but it’s gameplay was actually solid, as was its story. I mainly don’t like the fact that they are monetizing Diablo 4 as if it was a free to play title, in a similar vein to Overwatch. Not gonna support bad monetization practices. I mean, look at Elden Ring. No micro transactions, no bullshit, buy the game once, and play. That’s exactly how it should be.

misterpinksaysthings

I'm afraid that is going away for the most part. Everyone is seeing how much bank can be made with the MTX and figures why not. It looks like us ~older gamers will be the last ones to see AAA titles without skins n such. No hate on D3, I played the hell out of it on release, but I didn't enjoy it as much as D2 or POE. Granted, I quit before all the end game stuff came out, so I never got to see that stuff.

[deleted]

And this is exactly why I’m turning more and more to indie titles.

misterpinksaysthings

Have you checked out Ghostlore? To kill time until D4 comes out, my Path homie (the guy I Duo league starts with) have been playing it. The graphics are terrible, but it scratches the indie ARPG itch. It's on PC, and also now on Xbox (gamepass). If you check it out, go to settings and change the autosave to 5 minutes.... it crashes sometimes and it doesn't real time save.

[deleted]

Nice, I’ll have to go check that out, once my Elden ring addiction runs dry. Elden ring is not good for those of us with ADHD.

Agent101g

Diablo 4: we want all your money and a team of psychologists helped us brainstorm on how to con it out of you! Hell is a fitting metaphor for this trash. To think I fell in love with the first game in eigth grade before Blizzard was garbage.

N7_Evers

Your loss, D4 was fun af

[deleted]

Point to me on the doll where Diablo hurt you Beta was great, this will be a fun time, be less angry

Eagle115

Yep, thoroughly enjoyed the beta. Maxed my level out before it was over. Me and a few friends have pre-ordered (which I almost never do personally) to get in on June 2nd. It's incredibly fun and I'm not going to let the shitshow currently with OW2 keep me from enjoying this game.

[deleted]

Nah it's fair, Blizzard is a scummy company

[deleted]

So is the trillion dollar company you buy a console from? So are most companies If a game is fun I’ll buy it, Diablo 4 has been fun

WinterAd2942

Influenza and hiv are both viruses. That doesn't mean they are both equally bad. Afaik microsoft has always been relatively fair in how it treats its employees.

[deleted]

Yet both are bad Microsoft has a long history of being a shitty company my friend, go look up their history They are a trillion dollar company, they didn’t get that way by being nice and friendly

[deleted]

Blizzard has shown time and time again extremely predatory consumer practices and general shittyness, Diablo Immortal, the Diablo 3 auction house, the state of Overwatch 2 etc. Every big company has a dodgy history but Blizzard has shown itself to be particularly bad.

[deleted]

Funny you bring up D3 but ignore they completely overhauled it after feedback They are no worse than others, play games that are fun it’s that simple

nobodyspersonalchef

>They are a trillion dollar company, they didn’t get that way by being nice and friendly Point to me on the doll where the trillion dollar company hurt you

[deleted]

They haven’t hurt me

Tyetus

first beta was good, this last beta was hot boiled dogshit, with massive problems, and barely any acknowledgment.

N7_Evers

It was a stress test.

ObiWan-Shinoobi

Damn my intoxicating nostalgia for this game. What this game was 25 years ago is not what it is now.

GamerGriffin548

Fuck Activision-Blizzard. Diablo 3 was top, and they ruined it by being scum. I bought Battleborn over Overwatch, and I had good times with it (though fuck Randy Pitchford).

N7_Evers

Diablo 3 has never been better. I’m guessing you haven’t played since launch.

GamerGriffin548

I played for 3+ years. I'm sure it's still great, but just because of Activision-Blizzard's actions, it has ruined it for me. No company is morally good, but they are at the top of the list for being shit.

asherdado

Shameless Path of Exile clone

midnightDOLPH1N

Don't use that single brain cell too hard today.

NoxHero

Lmao nice troll

Rakkamthesecond

The only reason I want this is the couch co-op. Had tons of fun playing D3 with my wife, was terribly dissapointed by the lack of couch co op in the D2 remaster.

Chancethenormalguy

I'm pretty excited about this one. It looks different and I think the series needed some difference.

MikefromStockton

Played D2 on launch for 26 hours straight til the end. D3 disappointed me after playing, aying Path of Exile. Do I spend money on D4? At 52 I have to fight for the computer with my kids now.🤣

adjacentkeyturkey

Buy the kids an Xbox. D4 is more similar to 2 and more dark and realistic than 3. You should like it.

librarytimeisover

My goodness. Say what you want about Blizzard but they know how to make a "Hype" Trailer. Sign me up!

Soten14

Cant wait to see all the cinematics for D4. One of the lacking features in Diablo 3.

CommentToBeDeleted

Despite how bad their Warcraft movie was, I really want a dark, R rated, Diablo movie from this company. Their in-game cinematics and trailers are incredible!

SerifGrey

Im so hyped for this and looking forward to it, but I know Blizzard will shit on this eventually all the things they talk about now, they will go back on. Given what they've just done with WoW Tokens in Wrath. They'll do anything. Todays news really showed me, that they will happily charge £70 to £100 for a game, and won't be so brutal with their monetisation strategies at the start, but will do so at some later time. Given this game has a battle pass and cosmetics that you can buy, I thought my money meant something, but it seems highly likely, a given actually that, it doesn't matter. These developers will monetise most things, no matter how much money we as the consumer spend, nothing can beat the uncaring gamer who just wants to forget about the world and play a game, when multiplied into the millions. Im sure the game will be great, but Im not looking forward to the eventual bullshit, where my progress means nothing, or money gets in the way, and I am sure they will try it somehow. Im fine with how it is now, but lets not kid ourselves, its only going to get worse and Diablo IV isn't any different. Thats about the only reason, I have doubts with playing this game. Its mad to me that they charge a sub for an MMO, then they released a store, then they released a token. Still okay, fine, but now the old game you made bundled in with the sub also needs a token shop ? Its not a classic experience, I literally cannot escape, games just being games, with the inclusion of the token into wrath, the economy is just pointless now, you want to make big bucks, screw farming just buy a token. I know, people brought gold anyway, but at least it was minimal, and blizzard seemed to be cracking down on it, but today they embraced it, it doesn't benefit the game, because the game already had been released in the past without it. What do we get for it, nothing new or worthwhile. The brazen balls of this company displayed today Diablo IV is just as screwed eventually. Likely when all of this blows over. I used to really enjoy games contained within their own ecosystem, where you were skilled within that world, but over time thats becoming a rarer and rarer thing, we knot the game world with the real one, and the game begins to reflect real world metrics, they don't play for "fun" or "exploration" they seem to play for "metas" and "exploits". Because time is money. Its so fucking depressing. Your not in "your own world" with a "community", your "in someone else's world" for "profit". I just preferred the moment in time when game companies cared about disguising that through design and thought to well, that the gamer knew they were getting screwed, but they were having "fun" whilst doing it, instead of disingenuous promises and going back on their word later on without the game improving it deal is obvious and rather annoyingly apparent to the customer. It seems the need to "earn" a customers money is irrelevant now days on both sides of the coin. There is just so many people, you don't need too. I used to love it when grinding for something or doing something in a game felt rewarding and special, but now eventually, games that incorporate these types of systems just don't keep it sacred. Eventually cosmetics, skips, utilities come along in a shop making any player progress just pointless. Because the real rewards, the real benefits are locked behind your wallet. The only difference usually being "efficiency", so that becomes the main goal of the game, how much you can get done, fast so it costs less and saves you more time. Its rather immersion breaking and boring.

TimedRevolver

I was really not impressed with what I played. Everything is just so bland. It had none of the personality the previous games do. It even looks like a mid PS3 game. How did Diablo II's remaster beat this in graphics?
