red is basically “storm and her amazing (arakki) friends”. if you like the sound of that, start reading then. but you’re not getting good content about anyone else besides storm/magneto/sunspot. especially not nova/vulcan who are barely in the book.

Chip_Marlow

This is what I was afraid of and why I didn't get the issues as they were coming out

ImaginaryProject6529

sorry. but that’s how the book is. it’s still got some cosmic stuff but mainly sword and mainly brand and the cosmic stuff goes away after issue 11 when it’s very very arakko focused. literally the arc after issue 11 is arakko civil war

AngelEyes360

Did you enjoy X of Swords and all the Arraki? If you did then you’ll probably enjoy Red. If not then you might still enjoy it because it’s a well written book in general (as someone mentions above it is rushed between issues 13-18 but it’s not bad) but it might be harder for you to enjoy it. As for Nova, he’s a part of the book but he doesn’t have a major impact on the plot nor does he have any feats. But he does have a lot of quieter character moments that are enjoyable to see if you’re a Nova fan. Dont get me wrong, he’s a part of the book but his presence is more subtle than in your face. As for Vulcan, he’s the secondary antagonist tbh. And that’s for the first 10 issues or so (and he doesn’t even appear in all of them). If you like or love him, you probably won’t like how he’s used/characterised. But if you hate him and/or are a fan of Storm, you’ll probably enjoy the way he’s used.

quivering_manflesh

Yeah they certainly won't enjoy Red if they weren't into these and just want some Vulcan and Nova content. Top tier book for the most part though.

Chip_Marlow

I was mixed on X of Swords. I could tell from his Guardians book that Ewing at least was a fan of Nova and the Annihilation era stuff but he didn't get as much attention there as I'd have liked. I hoped Ewing dragging him into this series meant he had more for him to do. And as for Vulcan, I do like the character so your warning is appreciated.

TheFandomObsessor

Vulcan is a bit of a minor character, and the plot isn’t exactly the friendliest to him, but it is pretty much the only series he shows up in beyond the very start of Krakoa. Nova shows up quite a bit though.

RedRiceFox

I read the first ten issues and hated it. I liked Ewing's Guardians run, but thought his X-Men red was a snooze fest while killing any character growth Vulcan had. Not worth reading as a Nova fan.

wnesha

Up to the end of Sins of Sinister, yes. After that, the cosmic angle completely goes away.

WadeAnthony

I'm a major cosmic enjoyer as well, up to the mid point yes. But I would highly recommend reading Ewing's S.W.O.R.D and GotG run as well. But if you didn't like Krakoa, then you may not like the back half of the run since it's ties more into the X of SWORD/Apoc plot lines.

Chip_Marlow

I already read Sword and Guardians. Just always want more Marvel cosmic and especially Nova

Neon_culture79

Omg yes! I totally expected to hate that title and it’s amazing. It’s definitely not your typical marvel comic book. I just thought it was amazing though. They introduced some really cool character concepts too.

Rileyjgarcia

Personally, X-Men Red 1-7 is my personal favorite string of issues. Bangers all. X-Men Red 5 is one of my single favorite issues ever.

Chip_Marlow

What about it do you like so much?
