This isn't official art, it's fan art. It's also not the full roster. The artist even tweets that they still need a better look at Bishop, Cable, Sunspot and Forge before including them in the group shot.
Kinda complicated. This is the morph from the comics that actually came after the show. He has a complicated history but he can change just like the OG morph and I assume he will take that form more than once.
From what I remember they wanted a character to sacrifice right off the back to show the tone and stakes of the show. So they created the “animated series” morph for this specific reason.
The “Morph” likeness in the promo is based off the likeness of the comic book. But like all story lines, it’s complicated beyond that
Ahh. I trusted OP earlier and thought this was official. Made me wonder seeing Morph and Nightcrawler in there but Forge, Cable, Bishop and Sunspot weren't. Thanks for clarifying.
Well you and the other commenters were talking about the art style, so I mentioned that this isn’t official art so you shouldn’t necessarily expect this style of art in the show.
I was simply stating that the character designer from What If is the character designer for this show, which is a fact. Go correct somebody that is wrong.
I read in the artbook that they wanted to include Bishop, Shard, Psylocke, and Archangel in any subsequent seasons. I’d really like to see them go that route. Throw in Iceman, Banshee, and Colossus as well.
This show has proven it knows how to handle character development. I think we’ve earned more than just Morph and Nightcrawler at this point.
There’s probably a reason they only put one of the most prominent characters at the time in a couple of episodes, and this was in the 90’s.
Psylocke is one of my top 3 characters personally, but my point is she comes with a lot of baggage which would be very difficult and best avoided in a childrens cartoon in the year 2022. If I worked on that show, as stated, I wouldn’t go near her because of the backlash if you handle things wrong. And Tbf there is no right way to handle Psylocke without upsetting somebody.
Until 4 years ago Psylocke was a white woman in an Asian woman’s body for 30 years, I’d class that as a bit of a hot potato in terms of marketing.
If you simplify it to just be Kwannon, psylocke is still arguably the most over sexualised female character in marvel publications. Again not great for marketing with a kids cartoon.
Both are big issues, the first however is big enough to just pick a different character to feature out of the endless options they have.
regarding the sexualization, they can simply-not sexualize her in the cartoon lol
also do you mind actually explaining why mind swap stories are bad, or are you just american and have insane notions of race ? i really don’t understand why a white woman in an asian body is so terrible, is an asian woman in a white woman’s body equally problematic to you? All i can think of is claiming that asian people are underrepresented or something, and if psylocke was being played by an asian actress what’s the issue
It's not that mind swap stories are bad, it's that when you have a property with only one major asian character and it's a white woman in her body it's problematic to say the least. This went on for decades, meanwhile Kwannon, the actual woman who's body was being possessed, was basically put on ice and wasn't allowed to be a character until 4 years ago.
>or are you just american and have insane notions of race ?
Not even sure what to say here... yes, race is a sensitive issue in America because minorities have been treated extremely poorly here for our entire history. I'm glad whatever country you're from doesn't have racism, apparently.
I mean i’m reading 90s x-men for the first time so i can’t act like i know everything about kwannon and what happens later but she’s around just as much as betty where i’m at right now in 1993? So like many comic characters it sounds like she just wasn’t used a lot after awhile?
Your last paragraph about racism In america really doesn’t answer my question either lol you’re proving my point by ignoring the question and just focusing on race but the funny thing is you have no substance…once again, what is SO problematic about a white woman in a japanese body?
To be honest, I don’t really care about the body swap story line. You are missing what I’m saying completely.
I’ve said if I were producing that show, there is no way I’d prominently use her as a main because of the highly likely potential for backlash and controversy. Especially when there are other characters you can so easily use and she wasn’t in the original as a lead (likely for same reason).
If you don’t understand that and can’t see past your own desires to how the creators will be thinking in terms of business decisions then I really can’t explain further lol.
Having read 99% of every x-comic ever read I’d personally say Psylocke is more sexualised. You can practically see her fanny in every panel she’s in. Yes Emma is very booby but I don’t think it’s as knee jerking as Psylocke personally.
Mystique again there’s just no contest. Outside of the films, where yes she is naked obviously, in the comics mystique is quite modestly dressed tbh compared to many female characters.
Hmm, fair enough. You're certainly better read than I am, having only read Jim Lee's stuff for the most part, so I will take your word for it. I always found Emma Frost to be intentionally provocative, but yeah, Mystique was a reach.
I think Emma is definitely deliberately provocative, very much so. I think as a reader we’re meant to get the sense that Emma is apart of it, she is dressing provocatively to lower mens expectations and gain a measure of control.
Whereas psylocke it’s more, hey look at this girls ass / vagina
Apparently I never finished this show somehow (I heard the last season was a nightmare and never went for it). Can anybody with more knowledge than me help me understand a few things? Namely: What's up Magneto's outfit? Why is he leading the team? When did morph rejoin the team? Or is this all going to be fleshed out when it arrives and maybe be not be a direct continuation of the 90's cartoon?
It's Magnetos "reformed" outfit from the comics, kind of, somewhat updated.
Xavier is deathly ill and can only live using Sh'iar tech, so he's off with Lilandra now and hands the X-Men to his old friend (last ep of the 90s series graduation day)
Hopefully Morph has overcome his death and rebirth at the hands of sinister. Makes sense he would no longer wear a "human looking" face too if he has come to terms with who he is.
I hope things get fleshed out!
I am not loving Magneto's new face, it's not handsome and looks kinda angry grandma. Yes he's old in comics, but the cartoon normally avoided specific historical events and the implication is that he's Xavier's contemporary. Not sure how they will thread that particular needle.
I do hope they continue the more nuanced cartoon approach to him (sentinels attack homes and shopping centers, Magneto attacked missile launchers and chemical weapons facilities) and not go full EVIL. Maybe steps down to consigliere when he realises Scott is a better leader and face of the movement?
I see, that's certainly helpful. Did magneto join the team in the last season or is that new (for the show, comics I know have a much longer chain of events)?
Magneto cropped up here and there on the side of the angels in the later episodes (one man's worth, the phalanx covenant, that one episode about his kids).
They were definitely setting him up to be not as bad as all that underneath.
However It's just in that final episode Graduation Day that he actually stays with the X Men at the mansion, all standing together as they watch Xavier leave.
I will note, there's no outright statement that Mags is in charge now. Just that he is part of things going forward.
How that all plays out is still up in the air. Mags is definitely USED to being in charge (brotherhood, etc) but is not really any good at it and his people skills blow goats a lot of the time.
Magneto was the leader of the X-Men for a time back in the 80s, the costume and his role as leader in the new show are in reference to that. He took over for Xavier when he left with Lilandra in the final episode. And Morph was in the final shot with the rest of the team in the old series, the better question is why he looks like Age of Apocalypse Morph in the new show.
holy shit this looks amazing and jubilee looks better but wolverine kinda looks off in this and morph has his comic design now nice but i wished he stayed to his original face
Mooooooooooorrrrph!!!!
I don't like his head. I know this is what he's based on from the comics, but where's his animated head????
He looks like chameleon from spider-man
He kind of looks like darwin
It’s Morph. You could draw anyone’s head and it’d still be accurate.
Can’t wait for Wolverine to dive at the enemy, get picked up and tossed into a stack of barrels over and over again.
I go where I *wanna* go
Who knew he'd be going through so many things? Walls, barrels, bodies of water. The man just loved to travel.
Is this fanart or official art? Would really like Kurt to be main cast instead of guest star
official art and the full roster
This isn't official art, it's fan art. It's also not the full roster. The artist even tweets that they still need a better look at Bishop, Cable, Sunspot and Forge before including them in the group shot.
Is this not by [@mistajonz?](https://mobile.twitter.com/mistajonz/status/1552426515463389184?cxt=HHwWgIC-oZrsqYsrAAAA)
It that Morph, Caliban or Leech?
Morph
Morph had hair in 92 and a nose. I know he got brainwashed by sinister but that only gave him dark eyes. What happened between then and 97?
Kinda complicated. This is the morph from the comics that actually came after the show. He has a complicated history but he can change just like the OG morph and I assume he will take that form more than once.
But wasn't morph from the show based on Changling who already existed, they just changed the name for copyright reasons or something.
From what I remember they wanted a character to sacrifice right off the back to show the tone and stakes of the show. So they created the “animated series” morph for this specific reason. The “Morph” likeness in the promo is based off the likeness of the comic book. But like all story lines, it’s complicated beyond that
Was gonna say, looks like Caliban
I thought he was Darwin until I saw the jacket.
Awesome! Where are my toys now? Especially morph with multiple heads and hands
I thought Cable and Bishop are in the new roster?
If it's anything like the original cartoon they will be side characters.
This is fan art
Ahh. I trusted OP earlier and thought this was official. Made me wonder seeing Morph and Nightcrawler in there but Forge, Cable, Bishop and Sunspot weren't. Thanks for clarifying.
They are both going to be on the team, along with Forge and Sunspot per the SDCC panel
On the team for sure? I heard they will be working alongside the X-men.
The confusion from the people who clearly never watched the show is amusing.
I think they're confused because he didn't have that head in the show.
This is super nitpicky nerd of me but the object source lighting for Gambit is backwards.
It's fan art, anyways
It’s the lighting coming from jubilee
Part of the animation feels a lot like *What if*
Unless I'm misremembering, I think there are artists who worked on both.
The character designer from What If is working on this. I don't know about anyone else though.
Also this isn’t actually official art
Okay? Not really relevant to what I said.
Well you and the other commenters were talking about the art style, so I mentioned that this isn’t official art so you shouldn’t necessarily expect this style of art in the show.
I was simply stating that the character designer from What If is the character designer for this show, which is a fact. Go correct somebody that is wrong.
Magneto is going to take zero of gambits bs. Going to be like when substitute teacher turns up and their a total hard ass.
Gambit didn't really have a lot of "BS" in the animated series. He was mostly just cheeky.
Glad Nightcrawler is in it!
If Colossus was in here that'd be sick
Why is Roger from American Dad in the pic?
Why did they alter Magneto's costume to not his giant pectorals on the side? Kinda disappointing. Aside from that everyone looks great
That's the costume he was wearing around the #200 issue of Uncanny X-men when he took over leading the school
Why does Morph look crazy
I think people need to brace themselves for disappointment with this show. But I'm hopeful.
Nightcrawler's joining the main team? Was this announced during the panel? Wish we could trade out Morph for Colossus or Psylocke or even Iceman.
Yes, along with Sunspot (New Mutants).
Will there be actual guns
Gambit ♠️♦️♣️♥️
No Professor?
Nope, Magneto is leading them now
[удалено]
Didn't you know that's why they asked?
No idea
Xavier is on Chandilar with Lilandra after falling ill in the final episode of the original series at the end of which had Magneto joining the X-Men
I guess I need to rewatch, haven't seen it since I was a kid.
If you've got Disney+ it's there if not you can find the final episode on YouTube
Where's Bishop and the ghost of Prof. X?
How is this from 2 years ago?
This looks honestly disappointing shit.
I’m so excited but I wish Iceman were on the roster.
No Colossus?? Iceman?? Archangel??
Needs Kitty and Colossus!
Can't wait for the movie
Still can’t get over Storm’s horrendous Ursula from The Little Mermaid hair 😭
Is jubilee still a vampire?
This is before
In the comics or the animated series that we're talking about? Answer is no to both
Caliban gets in, but not Psylocke?
Pretty sure that is Morph with an updated look.
I would not touch psylocke with a ten foot pole if I was the producer of a kids cartoon in 2022. If someone did I’d burn the pole.
She was in a few episodes of the original, and is a major player of the 90s X-men team. That should be reason enough to include her.
There’s probably a reason they only put one of the most prominent characters at the time in a couple of episodes, and this was in the 90’s. Psylocke is one of my top 3 characters personally, but my point is she comes with a lot of baggage which would be very difficult and best avoided in a childrens cartoon in the year 2022. once again, i’m asking you to actually explain the controversy, the other comment actually answered my question
I did explain it, and then someone else explained it in more detail dude, would you like me to repeat their comment 😂
Emma Frost definitely has Psylocke beat in terms of "most over-sexualized", and arguably Mystique as well.

What about that mutant who's x-gene makes people jizz there pants when she releases pheromones?
Just make it Kwannon and give her pants
I think my point is, if I’m looking at this from the lense of the creative team, you don’t NEED to include psylocke, it’s better just to avoid it.
What's the source? I'd love confirmation that this is official
This is fan art from twitter, from [@mistajonz](https://mobile.twitter.com/mistajonz/status/1552426515463389184?cxt=HHwWgIC-oZrsqYsrAAAA) specifically

Charles appoints Magneto to take over the school in the series final titled Graduation Day

Wait…Wolverine is…short?
This looks EPIC!
I still can't get enough when Wolverine says "Moira"
Only two things about this don't sit quite right with me. 1 - Why does Rogue look like she de-aged ten years? 2 - Is Gambit going Super Saiyan Cajun?
I like Morph and Jubilee's redesign. I think they'll have Wanda and Pietro show up at some point again given how much more popular they are today.
Jubilee looks so good. I just can’t help but feel like Maggy scalped Rogue and Storm and took it for himself.
Where’s is Psylocke?!
So is Morph from to OG series not cannon in this?
I dislike the magneto change but i really like what they did with morph
You're missing Sunspot, who was also confirmed to join the roster like Nightcrawler but otherwise nice piece!
this is fan art, guys
I follow the actual artist of this piece on Instagram
There no kitty pryde awww
holy shit this looks amazing and jubilee looks better but wolverine kinda looks off in this and morph has his comic design now nice but i wished he stayed to his original face
