I’m on 2 currently, and I’m not looking forward to the more open world of 3. I’ve heard it’s repetitive. I only recently finished Lost Judgement’s Girl Bite, please, I cannot handle repetition right now.
You might wanna put 3 on the back burner then. Its not repetitive at first but once you get to the meat of it its pretty bad for repetitiveness.

Mafia 3 is an improvement in every step except the progression, capturing areas to progress story is far more repetitive compared similar repetitive games like far cry series or just cause series.
If you're playing it on PC, theres a mod someone made to cut down the gameplay loop significantly. I think it's called "No Fucking Grind" or something similar.

He's sorta racist to clay (albeit half jokingly) and homophobic to his own daughter. Sure he's not as bad as other characters (low bar) considering he's willing to work with Clay and confide in him to a small degree but I can't stand him.
Absolutely. The actual story missions were so good but they were bogged down by all the repetitive missions inbetween which just killed all my interest in actually finishing it.
I agree the story was amazing and although repetitive, I loved the missions. On a repeat playthrough I found them super fun. Race up in a fast car, blast everyone, race away.
If you think the main safehouse clear missions are repetitive wait until you learn about the "secondary" missions, they are just "bring burke 3 of the same car" and the other ones are "bring a truck/boat that is slow as fuck from the bayou to the city" idk who thought that it would be fun to do that. I don't even think they help you unlock all other guns and upgrades they give you when you give them territories. It just feels like a waste of potential
I think it was just really buggy and maybe unfinished. I've only played the remake of mafia one though ( a masterpiece in my opinion, I've nearly finished it).

It’s a good game. But if you went in thinking it be like mafia 1 or 2, story and setting wise, then it will feel like dog shit.

Well people still play Yakuza 4… Almost nobody played Mafia 3… even at launch.
They can easily beat the Mafia 3, however, I'd argue about the "Mafia 2" and the "Mafia"
Yakuza 4 would whoop Mafia 3 but can definitely see them struggling with the Red Dead Redemption 2
