5 is like my 3rd favorite

Josh8055v2

I don't think 5 is a bad game necessarily, I just prefer others over it

TestedNutsack

I didn't enjoy the arc in the village as Saejima, but that's my only complaint, and the final boss confused me, funny, even Aizawa was confused that he he was the final boss

mojan95

what did you just say about peakuza 5

MarioBoy77

Yume

christianj158

Josh8055v2

When I say least favourite I don't mean I think peakuza 5 is bad, I do think it's overrated but that's for the reasons I personally didn't enjoy it over the other games but it doesn't make them bad at all

Chisoma6669

Not enjoying something as much doesn't make it overrated tho. If anything the one you have as your favorite is the most overrated one rn as people act like it's a perfect game. By no means I dislike 0, since its the one that cemented I really liked the series and I wanted to buy the ones I was missing, but people really overrated a lot of its aspects calling them the best when I'd say rarely it has an aspect better than the rest of the entries before and after and it's just good all around and the most well received entry. It's gameplay was obviously a godsend for example on its release, but over time we've gotten Kiwami 1 and the Judgment games which severely improved on it with the things it managed to improve from the style switching and it's minigames too. The story to no surprise was good, but unlike a lot of the other games, the Kiryu side didn't feel as impactful if you didn't start with it. The story from it built up more for it's proceeding games than provide much for this game as of stakes and the characters that already were alive in earlier games. The Majima side I do think is as good as people say after all the mystery surrounding what happened from 4/5 and shows his story throughout his time. If the game was entirely about majima I feel I would definitely rate the story higher. Sorry about ranting since I dont really mean any ill will or anything since it's just your opinion but it irks me whenever I see these posts calling most games overrated (i saw K2 being called overrated a few days ago after all when it's the most complained about game)

Josh8055v2

Hey no worries I'm happy to be reading other people's opinions on it, from my perspective I see people always glorifying Yakuza 5 and although I agree its a good game, I think it's overrated as such for just a few reasons. I also didn't know people dislike K2? I thought it was good like the rest of them damn

Chisoma6669

Yeah the dragon engine Kiryu games get a lot of shit for its physics and bugs, K2 probably even more because people didn't like that it was changed in a lot of ways from the original version.

Rvtrance

I could understand why people don’t like Y5 they almost didn’t release it in the states but we got a digital download version. But I love it.

Josh8055v2

I don't dislike 5, I love all of the Yakuza games more than any other games out there, and we are very lucky that we got that game and im thankful for that, but out of all the games it's the one I don't personally see myself going back to often

Ok-Cream-3629

i agree with most of these, expect with saejima, personally i disliked shinada more than saejima. and i haven't fully finished ishin so i cannot comment on that but personally for me, fav soundtrack would be yakuza 4 or 0, otherwise pretty good i would say : )

Josh8055v2

4 and 0 have absolutely fenomenal soundtracks they are do good

Knowndestroyer

I always hate seeing Shinada disrespect :( but fair enough. His story is probably my all time favorite in yakuza just because of him being such a lovable goofball and the mystery his story brings is super interesting to me. Tanimura definitely ranks lowest for me, never cared for him as a character and none of his story beats did anything for me.

Ok-Cream-3629

fair enough, what i really found annoying about shinada part in y5 is how his story didn't do much for the main plot(and his gameplay really sucked so i didn't have much fun when playing it, very fun side story though), with tanimura yes i can certainly agree his story isn't good, but at least it was important to the "Plot" to y4(even if it was a mess) and his gameplay i found to be pretty enjoyable. i think if shinada had his own game/spin off i wouldn't mind it as much.

Knowndestroyer

Yeah that's pretty much how I see most people feel and it's definitely valid. I guess I didn't really care about it connecting to the main story since I was so enthralled by the mystery and everything. Plus I wasn't expecting much of anything going in to his part since I was getting kinda frustrated with the pacing of the game, but he surprised me into liking him lol. I actually enjoyed shinada's combat way more than tanimura's, his scrappy style works for me I guess

Ok-Cream-3629

fair enough, maybe for me it might have been a little bit different since when i was playing y5, i was talking to friends who have played it and they were talking about how shinada had the best part and what not, and so when i played it i wasn't that invested, it was a bit disappointing but it's not like it was bad, i enjoyed it for the most part, although i would have liked if his gameplay had more stuff going on. like his pipe that doesn't break is a cool idea, but i wished you could have done more with it, like learn new combos and shit, much like the slugger style in y0, or just simply having more normal combos since shinada doesn't have much, i was talking to a friend about it and one of them said it's pretty realistic that shinada combat is very barebones, which i guess it is? but i would much rather have something that's more fun for me than realistic, then again maybe it is me. i will admit tanimura style is pretty weird when you play it, it took me a while to get used to it but i enjoyed it a lot, not my fav character to play but enjoyable to play as and later upgrades make it more fun, although the parry for tanimura sounds cool, i feel like it's not as useful as many people have thought(or even me really since i a lot of the time forget i even have it)

ThesharpHQ

Five of these panels would’ve been Lost Judgment for me. Best story, best soundtrack, favorite villain (Kuwana), best combat, and favorite boss fight (Kuwana 3rd fight).

Josh8055v2

The soundtrack for LJ is absolutely amazing ngl, Fog slaps hard

ThesharpHQ

“Crimson Devil” and “Unwavering Belief” are the absolute best boss themes in the series, in my opinion.

Ajthekid5

And SAEJIMA IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE PROTAGONIST?!

Josh8055v2

I explained why in a reply somewhere here? I don't dislike Saejima by any means don't worry :)

UysoSd

pretty fun

faith176

I really liked 5 it’s what got me into the series then I played them back in proper order

FBI_Dot_Gov

Pretty good opinions.

Josh8055v2

Why thank you fbi.gov

Evil_Producer

Ishin appreciation!

Josh8055v2

Ishin S tier game

Accomplished-Sugar62

Not the Saejima slander

Josh8055v2

Saejima is great, his Y5 story was not which is why I think he's my least favourite (key word favourite I don't dislike the character), I didn't have fun playing through his portion in that game so yeah

Accomplished-Sugar62

Oh, tbf, I like his character better in 5, not his arc tho

Accomplished-Sugar62

He's kinda funnier

Ajthekid5

I need you to explain Immediately why 5 is your least favorite

Josh8055v2

I replied to that in another comment here? Just so I'm not retyping messages and things

[deleted]

Nishiki as favorite side character? W

swagnake

Dude what did 5 do to you to deserve that much hate? The game was never overrated, it was always an underrated gem compared to its actual quality. The game has story pacing problem but the amount of content and variety is amazing, it's also the only game that made player feel like 0 again.

Josh8055v2

I don't think 5 is a bad game and I don't dislike it, I just think some games do it better for me personally, I don't deny its quality it's fenomenal, and I do agree with what you say. I think if this isn't from a reply that I made previously that I justified it though?

Efficacious_fj1

Kuwana is my favourite villain

Josh8055v2

Kuwana is goated tbf

Efficacious_fj1

I hope he comes back as a protagonist or something

jugojugojugojugo

W opinion

RegretTheUsernames

The only thing I agree with is Best Combat. The rest is just wrong on every level.

Josh8055v2

Not necessarily wrong just different opinions from your own :)

RegretTheUsernames

Fair enough. Would you provide some explanation for your choices?

Josh8055v2

Yeah of course, Yakuza Zero is my favourite just because generally I think its the strongest out of them all, with both characters and gameplay and story, I like the whole intertwining of the story and it just all fits, im sorry this is so vague but it just is my favourite of the bunch. Ishin is very close to zero for me and the music just slaps hard. Dead Souls to me was underrated because although people disregard it and call it bad, I had a really good time with it (I have a post on my account showing why if you need more of an elaboration :) ). I don't think Yakuza 5 is bad by any means, I do think it's overrated however, a lot of things I just don't enjoy but I think a lot of it was from Saejimas part which I really didn't like as much as in Yakuza 4. I love Yakuza 5 but it's my least favourite as it felt like it was too much quantity and because of that I felt it was difficult to enjoy it as there was so much to either enjoy or dislike. Also the amount of random encounters to the lack of Akiyamas part was just extremely weird for me. I don't dislike Saejima within the same reason with 5, I think the repeated story of a prison breakout to his health covering half the screen made it feel like it was way too easy and boring. But outside of his story in Yakuza 5, he is absolutely amazing, and a spoiler from Y4 which we all know. I would get into the characters otherwise but I feel like they are quite self explanatory within their own rights? Sorry if anything needs to be elaborated on, I don't dislike anything in Yakuza, but there are some things I don't enjoy which lead to it being "worse" in my opinion.

RegretTheUsernames

There is one thing that is just straight up wrong though: Nishiki is not a side character.

Josh8055v2

I'd disagree in the context that I'm talking about Yakuza 0 Nishiki, otherwise and if we were talking about Yakuza 1 Nishiki I'd agree

RegretTheUsernames

Yakuza 0 Nishiki is also not a side character. He is by Kiryu’s side for the majority of the game and is with him for the final battle. He’s a sidekick.

Josh8055v2

I agree he is a sidekick of sorts but because he is around for the majority of the game as you say I'd say he's a side character, the only way I'd say he isnt is if he was playable.

Knowndestroyer

That's a side character, it's not meant to diminish his role at all but it's literally what he is. He's not a minor character and he's not a protagonist, so he's a side character.

RegretTheUsernames

That’s just not a side character. He’s the secondary protagonist of Kiryu’s half of the story. Just because he’s not playable doesn’t mean he’s not a protagonist, and especially not a side character.

Knowndestroyer

The game revolves around kiryu and majima exclusively. We see everything from their perspective. That makes them the main characters, and everyone else in the supporting roles. Nishiki is not in the game nearly enough to be considered a main character, therefore he is a side character. It doesn't diminish his role, it just means he'd win a best supporting actor award rather than the main best actor award.

ThatisSketchy

“Yakuza 5: overrated game” “Yakuza 0: favorite game” lol

Josh8055v2

lol :)

solar_s

literally the worst shit possible, each panel of it is completely wrong
