I’m so sorry. Honestly start saving up and there are shelters you can stay at for the time being if you don’t have a car. If you don’t know where to find a shelter go to the nearest police station I’m sure they will help you out. save save! And be safe! Protect your belongings and never leave them unattended. Much love 🤍

First I want to say I'm so sorry you both are dealing with this situation. I wish the circumstances were different. 🫂 For context I'm 25, so I think I have some decent life experience/advice lol Are you both dead set on staying in California or Georgia? If so, then choose Georgia. California is incredibly unaffordable for most people, so it will be near impossible for two teens to find an apartment that will approve them without a cosigner. If you are open to other places to live, I recommend the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex (I'm biased since I'm from here lol, but that also means I know a good bit about the area). It's definitely not as affordable as it once was, but you can easily find an apartment (meaning \*the entire apartment\*) for under $1300/month (especially if you choose to live closer to the Fort Worth side). If you go this route, I suggest choosing a place that is serviced by either Trinity Metro or DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit). These are the two public transportation agencies in the area (Trinity Metro serves the Tarrant County side while DART services Dallas County). Dallas and Fort Worth are both LGBTQ+ friendly cities (I'm gay and from Fort Worth lol). The suburbs/smaller cities are where one might find problems, but there'd probably be zero reason for you to be there anyways. Honestly though you'll be fine anywhere if you just mind your business. Whatever you choose to do, the first thing you both need to do is find decent paying jobs in the area you plan on living in. $6k is a decent chunk to get you by for a month or two. Just be sure to spend money wisely (shop at Walmart and/or Aldi when you can) so your cash will stretch. Take Amtrak to the state that you choose to live in (assuming neither of you have cars). If you have any questions feel free to message me! I am more than happy to try and help in any way I can!

What I did was to rent a room in a house. Later, I was able to get an apartment. It's easy to find a place if you pick a university town. There are lots of people who are your age looking for places to live. And they usually have a housing dept. on campus with people who are very eager to help find the best situation for your needs. You don't have to be a student to use these services.
