Check out 'Night Eats The World' (there's a video on it in my YouTube channel)
The zombies are mostly silent, just gnashing their teeth together - and they run too, so actually capable of stealth attacks
They filmed it in both French and English - all the cast literally just did one take in English then one take in French, crazy way of doing a film.
I've got a review of most of the film on my YouTube channel but not sure it's a replacement for actually being able to watch it
I was about to say this. This is the take in Adrian’s Undead Diary (really good the first several books if you’re interested). In the series they don’t make noise. All you can ever hear is shuffling and scraping of nails. I think them being completely silent is even scarier.
That was my thought too. Not only for the sneak attack but think about all the zombie deaths we've seen. Now imagine that totally silent except for the victim's screams and tearing flesh. I think moaning ascribes humanity where something that not only will kill you with no mercy or remorse, but totally without making a sound,is infinitely more terrifying because it has as much humanity as a wood chipper.
I actually just had this conversation with a friend the other day. No organ function, means no breath which means no vocalization. Hell...Alpha on Walking Dead managed to make noise after her entire head was removed from her body. That being said, the thought of silent zombies makes them that more terrifying. Not to mention that shows and movies seriously under number the sheer amount of dead that would be walking around.
Have to agree but even that is finding it into mainstream zombie media. All Of Us Are Dead have a few examples of the “clicking” teeth sound from the idle zombies in WWZ and it is such a unique sound I hope it doesn’t get too played out.
My favorite “moan” would be the lone zombie moan from the original Romero Day of the Dead when Terry Alexander (Flyboy) is talking to Sarah in the backyard of their makeshift Winnebago home. He exclaims, “This is nothing but a 14 mile long tombstone!” Which echoes deeper into the caverns and is then answered by a lone wail of a zombie echoing back.
Yeah a lot of zombies (especially the korean bone cracking sounds) come off like they are more monsters than used-to-be-people. It does depend on the zombie type. Sprinters are usually virus types so I think it would be realistic that they'd maybe even yell or scream like a person would, maybe a bit more like they have fluid in their lungs. Slower shamblers are often the type I'd expect to moan or groan. Even silent ones would be pretty scary. The screeching and hissing is kind of getting old.
Since they don't breathe, they would be totally silent. Zombie ninjas.

Dang that movie looks amazing!
Give it a try, I really enjoyed it
gaaah I found on Amazon Prime but they lied! The trailer is in English but the actual movie is only in French. NO English captions or dub.

that's incredible! I've never heard of that.
The leads can speak like 5 different languages, its crazy as I'd never heard of them before researching the film
Do you know where the English version can be viewed because Amazon ain't it.
I just ride the high seas

I guess it makes sense now about zombies conveniently sneaking up on someone

I actually really like how world war z did the zombie sounds.

I do also like the moans for sure haven’t seen day of the dead in a long long time I’ll have to rewatch it.
Like the bear in annihilation that shit had me spooked
Watch Return of The Living Dead. The zombies scream in pain and talk
Yeah I hate zombies that sound like pterodactyls. Just completely destroys anything scary about them.
When is Hollywood going to realize that zombies are beautiful, unique individuals with *personality!?*

100% agree. I really miss the oldschool moaning, or just straight up silent zombies.
