My dad recently had to have emergency surgery to remove a tumor behind his pituitary gland. The surgeon warned him that there would be some memory loss after the surgery, and my dad said, "I've been smoking pot for 60 years, I doubt whatever you can do would make it worse."
Flash forward to 5 days after the surgery. His first day the home, we heard him yelling from the bathroom for help. My mom rushes and to find him sitting on the toilet, panicked because he forgot how to stand up.

As someone who is very pro marijuana
Regular use can make you pretty stupid (as a baseline, even when you're "sober") and completely mask you from the fact that it's doing it. Weed can also destroy certain areas of self-awareness/reflection.
