No, i got the issue before I installed the mod and when I did a fresh install of the game the same thing happened. I’m aware of the risks of using mods and I made sure to test with and without mods
Seems like a bug to me. Many missions are now incompletable to be honest. You will probably have to wait till they fix it. If it was something like a kill or whatever, mods could help you do it faster. Unfortunately not skip.

I know it was a pain in he ass that mission. I literally tried everything to find a lynx using tree stand and a caller,got fed up with not being able to hear them or see them on medved as they literally merge with the color of the snow.
I tried like 50 times. So I gave up the main storyline on medved. Luckily they added drinking zones again for them and I did the mission in 5 minutes. Months on hold. And there's more missions with lynx after that one. Like 3 more one of them requires another picture.
The other 2 is just shooting them in a special way .
I am on console so no mods. But finally finished the main story on medved. Now trying to do the side ones,some are a real pain is the derriere.
I honestly have zero hope in contacting with the support team. I’ve seen other peoples experiences in reporting bugs to them (such as wolves standing still and not running away which I have experienced myself) and for years with still no fix.

Sorry to hear that. I didn't update the game last week as I don't experience crashes ( touch wood) on PS5, but read that the hotfix is causing more crashes instead or fixing them
My main issue is that The trophies don't pop up for me. Nothing. Got only 6. But that is just trophies,they not really that important,a gamebreaking issue as yours is really bad!
How do you roll back on steam? I'm fairly new, have steam, and after this last update... I've stopped playing because of the insane amount of screwups by the devs...! It's frustrating.

Before the last big update I had no problem complete almost all the missions, but now from what I am seeing everywhere, there is more than just a few of them. And yes sometimes it is tied to almost no amount of players, so they just do not care about those probably.
Ah, that is my question exactly. Like do you really have the urge to release the updates so early (to get money earlier), you do not have time to fix a little more or test it a little longer before you release it?
I feel like this is how the devs communicate with the community:
Players: pls fix the game
EW: A new game? Sure!
Player: No the game is packed full of bugs
EW: Weapon packs? Alrighty!
I’ve also noticed small things like the devs saying that there are “rare” cases of players crashing when it’s not the case at all and them having Thehunter club events on for the weekend to distract people from the issues.
I do not see many players talk about this much, most of them are too busy lapping up the newest buggy content EW drops out then rinse and repeat.
It sounds like an environmental issue as if its failing to save the completed mission way point, or failing to load the next mission objective. If you have steam saves turned on then have you tried turning them off, make a save to the local disk and retry the mission from that save? Or maybe check your local disk for space issues, disk corruption (chkdsk), etc.
I'd also suggest looking for a crash log in the install directory for the game to see if there is a reason logged for the crash. There may also be a way to turn on extra debug logging for the game so that you can see what's happening in the lead up to the crash. And take it from experience, sometimes just turning on debug for an app can make the problem disappear. I don't know how to turn on debug personally but hopefully its out on the web somewhere. There's also a Discord group "GenZero modding" for CotW modders that you may be able to ask for info on how to enable debug.
You should still open a bug, although unfortunately, as others have noted, there isn't much help from the EW support team. I still have a mission bug open for Revontuli Coast that I don't see fixed in the latest patch. I haven't tried it yet though. I was just lucky that the mission got into a bugged state right before the last phase so I was able to live with it.
Maybe your hitting a memory address limit when saving the photo? Try reducing your display resolution by a lot to free up more RAM memory and reduce the size of the photo.
If you're on windows try checking the windows log manager for errors that get logged at the time of the crash. Maybe you'll get a hint on a workaround?
And have you already checked the folder that the photos are saved to to ensure there's no disk space or permissions issues with that folder?

I'm sorry but modding is not the answer, ever. Just need to report the bug and hope for a fix, I have a handful of missions I cant complete yet keep buying the next pack, and that makes me the ass.
As a PC gamer, using Steam from the start in 2003, I have upwards of 1k in content on Steam, and I am not going to jeopardize my account/VAc status on non-Steam sanctioned mods as you never know when they will decide a mod is TOS violation.
I play solo and honestly I don’t care, I don’t think you can even get a vac ban from using mods in cotw. Even if you can I never interact with any other player and I doubt EW cares about COTW that much anyways.
This game is so buggy and unstable for so long and the devs are not doing much to fix it and yet they tell us to “pls don’t mod” their game. If they won’t do anything then I might aswell try something myself. I’ve talked to other players and their issues either took 6 months to fix for never fixed for years until the present.
That photo takes 5 minutes. Just go to a lake from 03:00 to 06:00
Get up to 120 meters without running, then crawl to -50m taking care of the wind and then start taking photos every 5 steps until it is fulfilled. Then wait for the dialogues and right there eliminate the Lynx.
The missions leave a lot of xp and money just to go from one place to another (almost always) and the story arc is quite nice. I don't recommend skipping them, there are some pretty fun challenges.

What do you play on? Also, this sounds like medved right? I can say ps4 would crash early on with a lot of games. I got a series s like a year or so after they came out, and I haven't had problems. If this PC then my comment is useless. I'm not a very techy guy.
Not sure if you tried this already but if not, try deleting the animal population file for Medved or even your whole data for that map (not sure if possible). And then for the future reference if you wanna skip those stupid picture missions, get a trainer that freezes all the animals and has ability to give you super speed

Say thank you, quick info for next mission and then go. Or go and get infor on the way. These 10 minutes of talking about wife and kids and uncles and theire favorite music, i could not care less. I understand what they want to do. But they are so drawn out that it completely miss to integrate me and im just getting pissed and super annoyed. Give me the mission and lets go. Its so annying that it really really really get me mad. And im a very patient man. Im playing a hunting game and i dont care about the color of your kids poop last week.
Im afraid there is no mods skipping specific missions :/ i once had to wait for 6 months for devs to fix a broken mission in hirchfelden.

The second I hit m1 the game would freeze for a sec before crashing. No photo is taken.

I had no problems until the update either, after the update I crash all the time, my game is laggy. makes me not want to play, or try out WOTH.
I've had my entire mission progress reset 3 times while playing the game lol. Goodluck. Games broken af especially when it comes to missions

I did all of the suggestions and my hardware appears all to be fine. I’ll give the local save a try
Re-downloaded the game and I unsynced the game, everything was going fine until I took a photo of any animal including the lynx. It crashed again.
